Nicky Henderson's Whisper gets King George go-ahead

Whisper is set to renew rivalry with stablemate Might Bite in the 32Red King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Trainer Nicky Henderson and owner Dai Walters have decided to let the nine-year-old take his chance following his fine effort in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury two weeks ago, when he failed by only a neck to give 14lb to Total Recall.

The Seven Barrows handler tweeted: "After chatting with Dai Walters this morning we have decided that Whisper WILL run in the King George @kemptonparkrace on Boxing Day. He deserves a crack at a big prize."

Might Bite is hot favourite with Sky Bet at 6/4, but Whisper last season ran him close in the RSA Chase at Cheltenham and the Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree, with the latter now on offer at 12/1.
