Weekend Winners: Details of big payouts, punting tales and winning tips

Value Bet tipster Ben Linfoot warmed up for Royal Ascot with a juicy 10/1 winner on Saturday while there were big wins at the weekend for a couple of Sky Bet customers.

Danish sides bring home the...

BACON! Yes, sometimes bacon comes from Denmark, and Dennis from Coventry can start planning his Aalborg adventure after winning over £3,500 on Friday night.

Dennis, henceforth nicknamed 'The Menace' at Sky Bet HQ after this slaughtering of the Danish football coupon, conjured up an 11-fold which won after the final match, Skovshoved IF v Slagelse B&I, was postponed.

Hard not to wonder whether The Menace was tampering with the floodlights ahead of kick-off as instead of risking the lot for a potential £8,453, he was left to collect a grand total of £3,757.

Consider the bookmakers smoked.

Copa the lot!

Graham from Redcar bagged almost £5,000 on a £10 seven-fold which began in fairly straightforward fashion at the Copa America and concluded with victory for Chicago FC United, who evidently are a real team.

Redcar's leading overseas football expert correctly predicted that Colombia would shock Argentina, before demonstrating the full breadth of his knowledge with one draw, a win for Sampaio Correa FC and various other correct predictions on games the less shrewd among us would've assumed you can't even bet on.

The draw came between Tampa Bay Rowdies, whose reputation precedes them, and Charleston Battery, who showed their own Duracell-like qualities with an 88th-minute leveller. Bosch!

(Deputy) editor's note: Bosch, the German industrial company, also make batteries albeit without having managed to become metaphors for sexual longevity - that's why I wrote 'Bosch!' and not 'bosh!'

Value Bet pens 10/1 winner

Racing tipster Ben Linfoot enjoyed a Royal Ascot to remember in 2018, tipping a host of big-priced winners, and he warmed up for this year's meeting by finding a 10/1 winner in his Value Bet column on Saturday.

The horse in question was History Writer, who produced a sustained run to comfortably land a sustained gamble in what had looked a competitive handicap at Sandown.

Not to be outdone, Simon Holt enjoyed another profitable weekend with his column, Durston winning at 5/1 at Chester and 33/1 selection Alternative Fact running a huge race in third over at Sandown to pick up place money.

Ben and Simon will be back on Monday to preview the first day of Royal Ascot. 'Value Bet', as ever, will go live at 5pm UK time on the eve of the action.

World Cup winners and golf gifts

Cricket expert Richard Mann was toasting Rohit Sharma's brilliant century in India's World Cup clash with Pakistan on Sunday having backed the opener for top Indian batsman honours at 10/3.

Sharma hit 17 boundaries in his first-class 140 as India beat their rivals in convincing fashion to further underline their credentials.

Golf expert Ben Coley was two from two with his third round two-ball selections at the US Open, Viktor Hovland again rewarding backers having done so in the Masters back in April.

The young Norwegian, who turns pro after the US Open, was always in command of his match with Webb Simpson as he also moved into contention for top continental European honours, a market in which he was advised prior to the tournament at 28/1.

There was also good news for followers of our Greyhound Derby tips as 25/1 selection Magical Bale coasted through to the semi-finals at Nottingham, having also been put forward as the best bet on Saturday night.
