Weekend winners: A review of the winning tips and big bets coming in on the major sporting events

We run you through a decent weekend for the Sporting Life tipsters and some great wins for our punters

Racing winners

Horse racing winners were thin on the ground on Saturday due to heavy rain resulting in significant going changes and a host of non-runners but Ben Linfoot still managed to find a 10/1 winning nap in Erissimus Maximus at Ascot.

Sunday's racing in France brought about a change of luck, however, with the Punters Panel proving a profitable source ahead of Arc weekend as Matt Brocklebank made Prix de l'Opera heroine Wild Illusion his Longchamp 'banker' as well as flagging up Mabs Cross' chances in the Prix de l'Abbaye.

The boys were all keen to take on hot-favourite Battaash in the five-furlong Group One and were proven right with Mabs Cross flying home to claim the coveted prize.

Punter wins £5K

While tipster Matthew Brocklebank might have been patting himself on the back for his efforts in France, those exploits were easily eclipsed by one Sky Bet customer who won £5,000 on Friday's racing at Ascot from a mere £10 investment.

Matthew, from Lincolnshire, placed a £10 on a five-fold and scooped a whopping £5255.86.

His inspired selections were...

2.25 Blue Mist

3.00 Tabdeed

3.35 Ghostwatch

4.10 What A Welcome

4.45 Cliffs Of Capri

Long wait proves worthwhile for one racing fan

The basking sun of Royal Ascot in June seems a distant memory but for one Sky Bet customer, the wait between the Ascot Gold Cup and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe must have seemed like an eternity.

Having backed Epsom Derby winner Masar at 14/1, and then Gold Cup hero Stradivarius at 5/1, Samuel from Huddersfield was waiting on Enable for £1687.50 following his £5 treble.

Enable was certainly worth the wait, travelling supremely well for Frankie Dettori before holding off the late surge of Sea Of Class to claim her second Arc crown.

Samuel might be able to buy a crown of his own now.

Football winners

A few decent winners for the Football desk to cheer about with Sunday's Premier League Tips proving fruitful as Chelsea beat Southampton to nil (advised at 7/4) and Arsenal drubbed Fulham 5-1 to land the Arsenal win and both teams to score bet at 7/4.

On Saturday, the desk flagged up a tidy 6/1 winner as Everton had eight corners or more in their game with Leicester.

Rugby Union

The weekend saw the conclusion of the Southern Hemisphere's Rugby Championship, which brought home two winners for the Sporting Life Team. Gareth Jones predicted South Africa to finish second overall at 9/5. While Australia's stunning comeback from 31-7 down against Argentina to eventually win 45-34 meant it was Argentina rather than the Wallabies that finished bottom of the table, called at 1/3.

Snooker

Mark King provided Snooker Tipster with a comfortable 13/8 winner following his defeat of Ryan Day in the quarter-finals of the European Masters on Friday night but having also tipped King outright at 16/1, Richard was left licking his wounds after the Romford potter surrendered a 3-2 lead in his semi-final loss to Jimmy Roberston.
