Turgenev can make a big impression at Epsom, according to Ashley Iveson - he has a tip for every race on every card.

Turgenev can continue John Gosden's recent domination of the Investec Blue Riband Trial at Epsom.

The Clarehaven maestro has landed the last four runnings of this Listed contest - with dual Champion Stakes hero Cracksman the most notable name on the roll of honour.

It is probably fanciful to suggest Turgenev can reach those heights and he lines up with something to prove after a disappointing reappearance at Newbury - but there is no doubt he possesses plenty of ability.

The Dubawi colt looked really promising after registering successive wins at Newcastle and Newmarket last autumn, but came up short when stepped up to Group One level for Doncaster's Vertem Futurity Trophy.

He was well fancied for his return to action little under a fortnight ago, but floundered in testing conditions.

Despite the negatives, the fact Gosden has decided to turn Turgenev out quickly for this event is perhaps indicative of the regard in which he is held and he deserves another chance to show his true potential on a sounder surface.

The main supporting race is the Investec City And Suburban Handicap, in which Mark Johnston's Mildenberger makes his long-awaited return.

The son of Teofilo has won four of his seven starts to date, his only defeats coming in races won by the top-class pair of Expert Eye and Roaring Lion.

Johnston justifiably viewed his charge as a legitimate Derby contender this time last year after his victory in the Feilden Stakes, and he found only Roaring Lion too strong in the Dante at York on his next start.

Unfortunately for his connections, Mildenberger has not been seen in competitive action since, but he remains a horse of significant potential.

He does not face a straightforward task on his comeback - conceding weight all round in what is traditionally a competitive handicap - but hopefully his class will shine through.

Maybe Today gets the nod in the Investec Corporate & Investment Banking Great Metropolitan Handicap.

Simon Crisford's filly has only once finished out of the first three in eight career starts and the application of a visor helped her rediscover the winning trail at Wolverhampton last month.

That form looks solid with the third home, Amazing Red, since going close in a Listed contest, and a 4lb rise for Maybe Today looks more than fair.

The booking of Silvestre de Sousa - who has ridden more winners at Epsom than any other jockey in the last five years - is another big positive.

Waitinonasunnyday is taken to complete his hat-trick in the Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap Chase at Fontwell.

The grey struggled to make an impact during the winter, but the combination of a sounder surface and a longer trip worked the oracle when he opened his account at Leicester in February, and he followed up under a penalty over the same course and distance.

He was all out to win on the latter occasion, and a 6lb rise makes life tougher. But Waitinonasunnyday is only six, with not many miles on clock, so there should be more improvement to come.

Listed honours are up for grabs in the EBF Stallions Gold Castle "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle at Perth and a strong field has assembled.

The vote goes to Captain Tommy, who bolted up on his first start for Harry Whittington at Fontwell and ultimately had no trouble adding to his tally on his next and most recent start at Wincanton.

He fully merits this step up in class, and stretching out to almost three miles should not be an issue.
