Roaring Lion, the 2018 Cartier Horse of The Year, has returned to Cambridge Stud in New Zealand, where he is recovering from two major colic operations.
Winner of the Dante, Coral-Eclipse, Juddmonte International, QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, he recently shuttled to the stud to undertake stallion duties in the southern hemisphere, following a successful first covering season at Tweenhills, home of Qatar Racing Stallions.
In this video David Redvers, Qatar Racing Manager and Owner of Tweenhills, talks through the timeline of events that resulted in the life-saving surgery for the stallion.
He said: “The chances of a horse surviving one colic operation are slim. The chances of surviving two operations, where a large section of intestine is resected, are very slim indeed. It is a testament to the horse’s courage and the care that he was given that he has been able to return to Cambridge Stud, where he will continue his recuperation.”
