Warwick forced to call second inspection

Warwick's meeting on Thursday is now subject to a 4pm course inspection this afternoon.

Officials report significant improvement from earlier in the week after the track was left covered by snow.

Clerk of the course Jane Hedley staged an 8am inspection this morning, but she must still check again later in the day.

Hedley said in a statement: "Significant thawing overnight, and with milder temperatures forecast for today, we'll assess again this afternoon.

"Two millimetres of rain overnight, and temperatures rose to around 3C. Further improvement to around 6C is expected today, along with a south-westerly breeze and showers which could total around 4mm.

"Minimums of 2C with a chance of further showers overnight, followed by a brighter day on Thursday with highs of 5C. Frost covers will be lifted today."
