Line Of Duty can shake up the Derby picture with victory in the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes at York.

A stellar field has been assembled for the Knavesmire showpiece - and, quite rightly, much attention will surround the reappearance of last season's champion juvenile Too Darn Hot.

Throw in Japan, who is seeking to further bolster Aidan O'Brien's spectacular hand for Epsom, and it really is a race not to be missed. But it is Charlie Appleby's Galileo colt who can spoil the party.

Nicely progressive last season, Line Of Duty finished the campaign with a tremendous victory at the Breeders' Cup. Significantly, he had last weekend's Lingfield Derby Trial winner Anthony Van Dyck well in arrears.

Appleby - who won the Derby with Masar 12 months ago - resisted the temptation to take in the 2000 Guineas, instead setting his sights firmly on the premier Classic, feeling his charge is far better on a turning track than a straight mile.

All is reported to have gone well, and ground conditions look like being ideal for a horse who should also thrive for this first try at a mile and a quarter.

Lah Ti Dar represents the Too Darn Hot team in the race before the Dante, the Middleton Stakes, and should justify cramped odds.

She did not do too much wrong last term, impressing in an unbeaten run before going for the St Leger, where she lost very little in defeat behind Kew Gardens.

Her final outing was a shade disappointing, as she could only finish third at Ascot on Champions Day, but it is equally fair to say Doncaster probably took more out of her than had been thought.

This is a nice starting point for another campaign in which she should be a major player for the big middle-distance events.

No Nonsense has to be the pick in the British Stallion Studs EBF Westow Stakes. Held in some regard by David Elsworth, the Acclamation colt ran well enough in the Greenham Stakes first time out, before heading to Ascot for the Pavilion Stakes.

Unfortunately he had the misfortune to bump into the flying machine that is Calyx, who was a stunning winner. No Nonsense was best of the rest, though, and if he is in similar shape he will be hard to beat on that sort of form.

Lincoln third Beringer came out to win at Newmarket and should play his part in the Matchbook Betting Podcast Hambleton Handicap for Alan King.

The Barbury Castle trainer also has claims in the Investec Wealth Handicap with Running Cloud, for whom Ryan Moore has been booked.

Away from York, the Gosden-trained Humanitarian promises to be the star turn at Salisbury.

The son of Noble Mission ran a perfectly good race to be second to smart stablemate Kick On in his maiden at Newmarket in September - a race in which Sandown Classic Trial winner Bangkok was fourth - before making no mistake when odds-on at Lingfield.

He remains in the Derby, and it will be very disappointing if he is beaten in the Penang Turf Club Malaysia Novice Stakes.
