Horse racing tips: Our team of experts with their free betting advice for Thursday action

Newmarket trainer Roger Varian

Matt Brocklebank and David Ord both have selections at Bath as they highlight the best bets of the afternoon.

Every day, our team of racing experts will pull together their strongest fancies, headlined by the Sporting Life Nap.

Thursday's best bets...

MAY REMAIN - 3.40 Bath

Union Rose was once rated in the mid-90s and is officially 3lb ahead of his future mark after last week's excellent effort in defeat but he's not getting any younger at the age of eight and might be worth opposing if getting a bit short in the market.

The obvious one in opposition with a similar sort of chance if you go back far enough is the George Baker-trained May Remain who is 2lb higher back on turf than for a couple of placed efforts at Kempton recently, but also remains a fair bit below his career peak mark of 86.

He's been around when it comes to trainers but has clearly appreciated the recent switch to Baker and Cieren Fallon should know him a little better now having had his first ride on him when third as the 2/1 favourite last time out. (Matt Brocklebank)

ROCK OF FAME - 5.20 Bath (NAP)

Roger Varian should have a good afternoon at Bath and can land the Woolley Handicap with ROCK OF FAME.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock was well-backed to make a winning handicap debut at Windsor last week but after travelling like the winner for much of the contest, showed signs of greenness and was beaten a short-head by Grinling.

She's due to go up six pounds in future handicaps and won't be long in leaving this grade behind so providing she's over those exertions should open her account here in against more exposed rivals. (David Ord)
