South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir has agreed a deal to join his eighth English county, signing for Surrey's Vitality Blast campaign.

The well-travelled 40-year-old has previously represented Middlesex, Yorkshire, Hampshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Durham and will now add the Brown Caps to his lengthy CV.

Tahir was the leading wicket-taker at the recently-concluded Indian Premier League, taking 26 wickets for runners-up Chennai Super Kings.

"When I heard Alec Stewart (Surrey director of cricket) had asked after me, it was an easy decision," said Tahir.

"Surrey are a massive club and it will be great if I can contribute to helping them win another trophy this summer at the Kia Oval."

Stewart added: "Imran is a proven match-winner and his vast experience of international, county and franchise cricket will be a huge asset to us."
