A guide to where to eat, drink and what to back on day one of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival.
Race-times: 14.20 to 1750
Admission prices: Club enclosure £25, Paddock £17, Course £7 - £20 for cars.
Best bet: 1715 Roar. Yard flying and back to winning ways at Newmarket last time. More to come stepping up in trip.
Sky Bet Offer: Paying FOUR places in 1750
Where to drink:
One-Eyed Rat: Historic pub serving a brilliant range of quality cask ales.
The Water Rat: Pub and restaurant with a riverside setting. Again many a splendid ale available for the connoisseur.
Black-A-Moor Inn: Close to the racecourse - splendid ales on pump (spot the trend) and an extensive menu. Very, very nice.
Navigation Inn: Close to the canal, darts board and pool table for sports fans and Theakstons Best and Timothy Taylor Landlord on the pumps.
Royal Oak Ripon: Award winning cask ales (full house), comfortable accomodation, good menu.
Where to eat:
Lockwoods Restaurant: Post an afternoon of classic ale supping, you may like a fine cocktail here and good, varied menu with mains from £12.95 and a rib-eye steak £23.95.
Prima Restaurant: A favourite of course officials and many-a-leading trainer. Great Italian menu - the work of head chef Carlo. A great spot.
What to eat on-course:
Fish and chips (thoroughly recommended)
Ice-cream van (99s - the extra money for the flake worth it)
