A day after putting the finishing touches to Eminent's Investec Derby preparations, Martyn Meade unleashed another smart prospect when Cartographer broke the six-furlong course record at Yarmouth.
Second on her debut at Kempton in November, she reappeared in the opening maiden on the card and was sent off the 4/9 favourite to go one better.
Jamie Spencer was looking round for non-existent dangers from some way out and she had no trouble in easing to a four-length win from 100/1 shot Pastime.
"She did it well, she settled nicely and put it to bed early," said Spencer.
"She coped well with the drying ground and she looks a smart filly, I'd say."
Spencer doubled up on Realize (11/8 favourite) in the seven-furlong handicap.
Robert Eddery's Graceful Lady (4/1) provided veteran jockey John Egan with a 49th birthday winner in the handicap over a mile and three-quarters.
Winning for the first time in her 17-race career, she was suited by stepping back up in distance as she readily accounted for 3/1 favourite Dream Serenade.
"It's nice to get a winner on your birthday, but a winner any day is good," said Egan.
"She's been consistent but all fairness to Robert, he gave me good instructions because she lengthens rather than quickens and how right he was.
"She relished the step up in trip and loved the ground."
Eddery said: "My last couple of runners here have won now. She's an honest filly who tries hard so it's about time she won.
"Now she's got her head in front that might help her a bit."
James Fanshawe's new recruit Adjective beat fellow 2/1 joint-favourite Tyrsal in the extended one-mile-three-furlong handicap.
Dan Muscutt did the steering on the former Andre Fabre inmate.
"That's her first run for Mr Fanshawe, having come from France, and we didn't know quite what to expect," said Muscutt.
"I'd watched her videos from France and from sitting on her at home I got the feeling she's got a lot of stamina as she does nothing quickly.
"Hopefully she can keep improving as she was still a bit inexperienced round the bend."
King Oswald (4/1) registered a first win on turf for James Unett, with Ryan Powell on top in the one-mile handicap.
"He's had his problems along the way but he showed he was on his way back when third at Haydock," Unett told At The Races.
"He needs fast ground. We declared on good to soft but we had an idea it might go quicker than that and it's worked out."
