Richard Spencer ready to unleash stable stars

After a quiet start to the season, Richard Spencer is preparing to unleash his stable stars over the next few weeks.

Thrilla In Manila, who impressed visually on his debut at Newbury in October, was an intended runner in the QIPCO 2000 Guineas but missed the race due to a minor setback is set to line up in the Dante Stakes at York next week.

"Unfortunately, we had a little set back with him he didn’t scope well after his last bit of work, so we took the view to miss the Guineas. All being well, he will head to the Dante. He won on soft ground over six-and-a-half furlongs at Newbury last year and he has got a lot of natural speed but I think the extra trip shouldn’t really inconvenience him."

It was a similar tale for Stay Classy, who missed the QIPCO 1000 Guineas after throwing a splint in the lead-up to the race.

"Stay Classy unfortunately threw a splint last week which ruled her out of the 1000 Guineas which was very frustrating. The plan now, will to be to head to Royal Ascot for the Sandringham. We have got enough time to get her right."

Meanwhile, Rumble Inthejungle, who stormed to success in the Molecomb Stakes before finishing third in the Middle Park could line up at Haydock in the Sandy Lane provided the ground isn’t soft, with the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot the ultimate goal.

"All being well, Rumble Inthejungle could head to the Sandy Lane at Haydock, if it stays dry. If not, he will just go straight to the Commonwealth Cup with a racecourse gallop before. He doesn’t want soft ground and there’s no point really in wasting a run when we know that he won’t handle it. So the fast ground needs to be there for him to run."

Keyser Soze didn’t enjoy the best passage when a fast-finishing fifth on All-Weather Championships day but he has a number of lofty targets for the season ahead, both here and abroad.

"Keyser Soze ran well on finals day at Lingfield, he has come out of the race well and he has an entry in the Lockinge. There are other options for him, he could be potentially getting on a plane and going abroad, throughout the year with America a target for him."
