Signora Cabello on target for Cheveley Park

John Quinn is looking forward to a likely rematch between Signora Cabello and Pretty Pollyanna in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.

Signora Cabello won four of her first five starts for Quinn, including Group Two triumphs in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons-Laffitte.

She was narrowly beaten by the Michael Bell-trained Pretty Pollyanna when the pair filled the first two places in the Prix Morny at Deauville last month and they look set to clash again on September 29.

Quinn said: "Signora Cabello is an intended runner in the Cheveley Park Stakes. She has done nicely physically and I am pleased with how she looks. I have been happy with her since her run in the Prix Morny, she seems in good fettle and worked well the other morning. When I heard that Pretty Pollyanna was going to give Ireland (Moyglare Stud Stakes) a miss and go to the Cheveley Park, my reaction was 'well that will make for a better horse race'. They are two exceptional fillies and I'm sure the race will attract some other very good fillies who may go under the radar."

He added: "There is no reason to be negative about the rematch. The Cheveley Park will be another day and Signora Cabello has coped with all kinds of different tracks - uphill, flat, Ascot, Maisons-Laffitte - so maybe the Rowley Mile will bring out the best in her. Signora Cabello has only encountered fast ground to this point. If it happened to come up soft at Newmarket, who knows how any of the fillies would cope with it?"

Signora Cabello was one of 29 fillies to stand their ground for the £275,000 Cheveley Park at the latest scratchings stage on Tuesday.

Other leading contenders include Mark Johnston's dual Group Three winner Main Edition and the Aidan O'Brien-trained Fairyland, who landed the Lowther Stakes at York on her latest appearance.

O'Brien has a total of five representatives as he bids for a third successive victory in the race.

The Ballydoyle maestro also has five colts among 26 still engaged in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes on the same afternoon.

The quintet includes Group winners Land Force, Ten Sovereigns and Van Beethoven, while Gimcrack Stakes scorer Emaraaty Ana and Phoenix Stakes victor Advertise among among the chief hopes for the home team.

A total of 56 juveniles go forward for the Group Two Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes including Too Darn Hot and Dark Vision.
