Ante-post favourite Sea Of Heaven is among 36 horses remaining in the 188Bet Chester Cup at the five-day stage.
However Silver Concorde, Natural Scenery and Galapiat, all relatively short in the ante-post betting, have been taken out.
Sea Of Heaven is the only entry for Sir Mark Prescott and he was last seen running third to Sweet Selection, a mare that won the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot on Wednesday, in the Betfred Cesarewitch.
Local owner Dr Marwan Koukash has won the race a couple of times in recent years thanks to Address Unknown and Suegioo and he has six entries this time around.
Suegioo goes for another crack at the race while his other five are Duke Of Clarence, Angel Gabrial, Gabrial The Hero, Gabrial’s King and Gabrial’s Star.
Other well-fancied horses to stand their ground are Endless Acres for Charlie Fellowes, Golden Spear for Tony Martin, Winning Story for Godolphin and last year’s second, Nakeeta, for Iain Jardine.
Jardine is hoping Nakeeta fares better in the draw for this year's renewal.
Beaten just a short head in second 12 months ago by Nicky Henderson's No Heretic, he faced a tall order coming out of stall 15 on the tight track.
Jardine feels he could not be in better shape.
"He's running off 10lb higher this year, but all he did was improve last season as he showed in his last run when second in the Irish November Handicap," said Jardine.
"He's definitely improved so while I'd obviously love to have 10lb less, that's the system and we can do nothing about it.
"It's first time out again, like last year, but I'm very happy with him and I've got him ready.
"The ground should be fine, he doesn't want it rattling quick but I'm sure for the first day of three it won't be.
"All I hope for is a better draw. I'm very hopeful but you need plenty of luck.
"I don't know who'll ride him yet, I may claim off him, I'm just not sure."
