A highly competitive renewal of this race and there are cases to be made for several. SINGLEFARMPAYMENT will need to be waited with and hope the quicker ground catches out those in front. He's threatened to win a big handicap a few times and this looks a good chance.
14:25 Cheltenham - BetVictor Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 3) (Class 1)
There are a number of these who merit a mention and leg two doesn't get any easier. King's Socks ran poorly when pulled up at Aintree last term and that's a worry, Happy Diva has been consistency personified but MISTER WHITAKER had an excellent novice campaign. He returned to action in striking fashion at Carlisle last time out and he gets the vote here with the promise of more to come.
15:00 Cheltenham - Regulatory Finance Solutions Handicap Hurdle (Listed) (Class 1)
The forecast quicker ground could go against some of these but one who is not only more versatile ground-wise but also on the upgrade is the Olly Murphy trained WEEBILL. He had a good novice campaign and the step up in trip could unlock even more potential; Richard Johnson taking the ride gives the horse even more appeal.
15:05 Uttoxeter - Marston's Pearl Jet Swoop Mares' Handicap Hurdle (Class 5)
NORTHERN GIRL has been left alone by the handicapper after an eight-length defeat at Wetherby last time out at five-years-old has plenty of scope for improvement. This is a low grade race and should Tierra Verde continue her consistent runs of late then she'll be bang in the mix too.
14:45 Lingfield - Betway Churchill Stakes (Listed) (Class 1)
ADDEYBB will surely be a warm order to take this contest but there's a reason for that. She ran riot in the Lincoln and was subsequently impressive at Sandown. He's conceding weight for the former success but he's got the class and can take this.
15:15 Lingfield - Betway Golden Rose Stakes (Listed) (Class 1)
It was clear from the off that MUTHMIR hated the soft ground when last seen and his propensity to miss the break as well as stepping up to 6f for the first time since 2015 means he has plenty of question marks but i'm keeping the faith.
15:30 Cheltenham - BetVictor Intermediate Handicap Hurdle (Class 2)
Leg six is fiercely competitive and a chance is taken on SEROSEVESKY who has a progressive profile and some consistent runs this season. He'll need a step up in performance to take this but at just five he has time on his side. Louse Talk is another fascinating runner who has either won or been pulled up in all five starts under rules.
15:50 Wetherby - New Jumps Season On Racing UK Novices' Chase (Class 4)
There could well be some heartbroken punters after this race as the ITV7 game closes with a two-horse match bet between Hawk High, who is a long time between drinks, and RAVENHILL ROAD, who was pulled up over an inadequate trip last time out. We'll side with the Ellison runner which brings this week's game to a close.
