September quickened nicely and pulled well clear of more experienced rivals on debut at Leopardstown. She has a Group 1 entry later in the season and will almost certainly start favourite against the boys here - her stable has already won this three times, including with Churchill last year. Nyaleti ran on strongly when making a winning start over 6f at Salisbury and is another promising filly but MASAR impressed with his attitude when overcoming trouble in-running to make a successful debut at Goodwood when Bartholomeu Dias was third. Fourth Folk Tale has won since to frank the form and the extra furlong will suit on breeding. Westerland landed the odds at Leicester last month but only just beat Hey Gaman, who was having his first run and may have more scope, though both are drawn on the opposite side to the likely market leaders.

Royal Ascot 3.05 - Wolferton Handicap

KHAIRAAT (NAP) looks a typical Sir Michael Stoute improver having remained unbeaten since finishing second on debut last year. Jim Crowley attacked from the front on him at Chester on his reappearance and he never looked like being caught. He’s well drawn here if similar tactics are being considered and, still unexposed, is probably a potential pattern race performer running in a handicap. Kidmenever was bought by Godolphin in January and ran a couple of nice races for Charlie Appleby at Meydan but hasn’t raced since February. Central Square is lightly raced for his age and made a satisfactory reappearance at Newmarket. He’s probably been aimed at this and will be hard to keep out of the frame while Elbereth ran well above expectations when second to Somehow at Newmarket and then fourth in the Coronation Cup at Epsom and would have every chance on that form. Snoano has his ground and trip and could also play a part.

There will be plenty cheering on royal runner DARTMOUTH in this. The Queen’s entire is bidding for back-to-back victories in this Group 2 having got the better of Wednesday’s Prince Of Wales’s Stakes winner Highland Reel after a titanic struggle 12 months ago. That was on good to soft going but the five-year-old has also won on much quicker surfaces and confirmed his well-being at York last month. Dal Harraild beat Barsanti at Newmarket last year and got back to winning ways over 1m6f at York. He is still improving but needs to reverse earlier Newbury running with Muntahaa, Chemical Charge and Second Step. Western Hymn was on his best behaviour at Chester last month and My Dream Boat won at this meeting last year and appeared to stay when tried over 1m4f at Newbury. Wings of Desire had form in Group 1 races last year so will be a threat to all if ready to roll on his first start since August. Idaho wasn’t disgraced on his reappearance at Epsom and is another with a touch of class.

Royal Ascot 4.20 - Diamond Jubilee Stakes

The Right Man won the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan in March for France, just ahead of American challenger Long On Value. But favourite Limato didn’t run his race that day and it would be no surprise if he turned the tables here and went close to giving trainer Henry Candy back-to-back wins in this Group 1 following Twilight Son’s success 12 months ago. Tasleet quickened impressively to land a Group 2 at York last month, beating a number of these in the process. But there are grounds for thinking that fifth THE TIN MAN will improve a bundle for that run and he is also 5lb better off with the winner and second Magical Memory. James Fanshawe’s sprinter, a winner at the highest level here in October ahead of Growl, was drawn on the wrong side on the Knavesmire and Tom Queally eased him in the closing stages. Librisa Breeze likes it here but was beaten fair and square by the selection on his first try over 6f here in the autumn.

Royal Ascot 5.00 - Wokingham Stakes

Paying 6 Places instead of 4 at 1/5 odds, 5.00 Royal Ascot, Wokingham Stakes. Enhanced Place terms depend on 18 or more runners

Considering this is one of the most competitive sprint handicaps of the season, it’s an interesting fact that four of the last eight winners have been the subject of gambles and have started at single-figure odds. Only one of the last 10 winners had a low draw and five-year-olds have won the last four renewals. Last year’s winner Outback Traveller is only 4lb higher and Eastern Impact is a former Group 3 winner who ran well at Newmarket last month. PROJECTION finished sixth in that race but was not unduly punished in the closing stages and the outing will have blown away any cobwebs – he’s always looked capable of winning a race like this and Kieran Shoemark’s claim will help. Raucous is blinkered after finishing fourth at Windsor but still holds Intisaab on the form book. Buckstay usually runs well here and goes well fresh but Normandy Barriere has been raised a further 4lb since last month’s course and distance victory and could be found wanting.

Royal Ascot 5.35 - Queen Alexandra Stakes

Us Army Ranger has been placed in a couple of Group 3 races this year and has the highest official rating, though the marathon trip is a total unknown. Qewy was an excellent fourth in last year’s Melbourne Cup and later won a Listed handicap in Australia. He hasn’t run this year but the trip won’t be a problem and he was second in the Ascot Stakes 12 months ago. THOMAS HOBSON won this year’s Ascot Stakes on Wednesday in effortless fashion. He is rated 8lb higher than Qewy over timber and it must be significant that Willie Mullins turns him out again quickly - the stable has won this twice in the last five years. Chester Cup winner Montaly represents the yard that won the race in 2013 and 2015 winner Oriental Fox also makes the line-up. Fun Mac, just behind Montaly at Chester, Motherland and Winning Story could all cash in if the market leaders fail to fire.
