Rose of Kildare (7/1) sprung a minor surprise in the Group Three Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York.
Fillies owned by Prince Khalid Abdullah dominated the market despite the absence of Franconia, one of three non-runners from the nine declarations.
Ricetta, an unbeaten stablemate of Franconia, was sent off a strong favourite but could never get on terms with the Mark Johnston trained filly who made almost all of the running under Franny Norton.
Third over a mile at Epsom just five days ago, the Make Believe filly was settled at the head of affairs by Norton with Dubai Love in second.
The leaders wound up the pace as they raced down the middle of the home straight with Dubai Love hitting the front with around a quarter of a mile to run but Rose of Kildare rallied strongly and had pulled two and a half lengths clear at the line.
Albaflora came home well to finish a never nearer second with Lake Lucerne another whose best work came when the race was over.
Ricetta, a little keen in the early stages, was given every chance by Frankie Dettori but failed to land a blow on the principals.
Speaking to ITV Racing, Johnston said: "Absolutely fantastic.
"We ran her at Epsom last Saturday and then regretted it because it clearly looked like she wanted further and said 'oh we should have saved her for the Musidora' and then thought 'what the hell? Let's run her in the Musidora'.
"What a horse. A 3,000 euro purchase by Charlie (Johnston, trainer's son and assistant) the year before last and incredible, this is her third pattern race win.
"She ran in the Guineas, we took her to the German Guineas which had been her target all along and she was very unlucky there and one of the partners said afterwards 'I wish we had her in the German Oaks'.
"We've looked at that. I think there is a 50,000 euro supplement but we won't rule it out because that's the sort of thing she could win and, obviously, to get a Group One tag on her would be absolutely fantastic."
Norton said: "It was a good performance, because it was a quick turnaround from Epsom, where she ran very well. She hit a bit of a flat spot, but she picked up again and ran right to the line."
