Timeform's US racing expert Jake Price has two selections for tonight's Stateside action.
#8 1pt Vidal at 10/3 (min 5/2) – Belterra Park, R8 (21:05)
#4 1pt Plum Sexy at 9/2 (min 3/1) – Del Mar, R6 (00:30)
Race 8 on the card at Belterra looks a good opportunity for VIDAL to break his duck. John Ennis’ charge takes marked drop back in class after racing in a pair of maiden special weights at Keeneland and Churchill Downs back in April. Though he finished out with the washing both times, there was a glimmer of promise on debut after showing early speed and his last run is easily excused. As one would expect for the tracks, both races have thrown up subsequent winners.
However, one thing that really caught the eye are his most recent workouts. He’s been shaving chunks off his times, culminating in a very fast piece of work last week, which suggests Vidal is cherry ripe for a big run. He also gets Lasix.
Over at Del Mar, PLUM SEXY looks an attractive proposition in race 6. The selection has been highly campaigned since making a winning debut. She hasn’t been disgraced overall and has run very respectable speed figures in defeat.
A line can be put through her last outing as she was making her dirt debut in a competitive renewal of the Grade 2 Summertime Oaks at Santa Anita. Back on turf and dropping to claiming company very much appeals as the tonic Plum Sexy needs to double her career tally.
