Lil Rockerfeller among 13 entries for National Spirit

Lil Rockerfeller is one of 13 entries for Sunday's totepool National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell.

Neil King's stable star finished a gallant runner-up behind Nichols Canyon in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham last March and that race is his ultimate target once again.

With that in mind, King is not fully committed to running this weekend but needs the seven-year-old to bounce back after a rare poor run in the Long Walk Hurdle having won on his return in the Ascot Hurdle.

"He's in good order. We actually took him to Lingfield on Saturday morning just to give him an away day and he worked very nicely," said King. "He's in the National Spirit and we'll take a look at it.

"If he doesn't run, then he'll just go straight to the Stayers' a fresh horse which we did last year - he ran on New Year's Day and then went straight to the Festival.

"Obviously if he doesn't run in the National Spirit, then he wouldn't have run since the Long Walk. I'm sure because of all the weather we've had of late, it will be better for him not having a hard race in heavy ground than getting a run in but it being a real slog."

Fergal O'Brien's Colin's Sister, Henry Oliver's progressive novice Dr Des and Paul Nicholls' Old Guard are in the mix for the Grade Two.
