Richard Fahey takes us through his team for the first two days of the Chester May Meeting - and for once the draw has been kind to owner Marwan Koukash.

I’m pleased Showmethedough has got a decent draw in four for the Boodles Diamond Handicap at Chester. Marwan Koukash has had some terrible luck on that front at this meeting for the last two years but we've no excuses with this fellow.

He ran well at Thirsk first time out and we’ve been happy with him since. He’s in great order and it’s just a question of whether he’s going to be quick enough over five furlongs around here. I hope he is.

I was a little surprised Gabrial The Saint got into the Eversheds Sutherland Handicap but delighted too as it’s been the plan to run him here for some time. Six furlongs at Chester is going to really suit the horse, he’s in terrific form at home and should go well.

Requinto Dawn runs here too - from stall two. He's a bit of an enigma as his form is rock solid but he’s a quirky customer who can hang both left and right. I hope he doesn’t go right around here as we’d be in a spot of bother but he’s talented and another in great order. He'd go close if everything goes right.

Requinto Dawn - has quirks but ability to go well

We run three in the closing Greenhous Handicap.

Stall 14 is a disaster for Heaven's Guest. He’ll need all the luck in the world from out there. It’s not a case of what he does - we’re relying on the others going flat out and allowing us to come through and pick up the pieces late.

Right Touch has some form on the track which is always useful here and is going well. He just needs a bit of luck to run well.

The Feathered Nest is in really good order going into this. She has an okay draw, at least we’re not out in the car park, and can run well from there.

Moving onto Thursday and we have Boundsy drawn 13 of 13 in the Gateley PLC Handicap.

Again, we’re relying on them going flat out and walking home but it rarely happens. Around here the horses drawn low jump out but then they hang onto them and kick off the bend – those who have had to slot in are still turning in when the others have flown. Anyway, you never know and it might fall right.

Powerallied likes the track and has a better draw. He is capable of going well but it’s just a question of whether he can hang onto them early as he’ll be coming home strongly.

I thought the track, trip and ground would really suit Joe’s Spirit in the Abbey Logistics Handicap but enthusiasm is tempered with his draw – also 13. He's in very good form heading there.

Dark Devil is out in 11 for the closing Partner Tech Handicap but he’s a horse we'd have been looking to drop in as he’ll be ridden to get the trip. He goes well here and is capable of going close if things falls right.
