Richard Fahey column ahead of Derby day including Kimberella

Richard Fahey guides us through his team on Derby day including top weight Kimberella in the Dash at Epsom.

Gabriel is our first runner at Epsom on Derby day.

He goes in the Investec Diomed Stakes and you’d be better off asking him how he’ll run! Any rain would be in his favour and on his best form he wouldn’t be without a chance.

Kimberella has a good slot in 20 for the Investec Corporate Banking 'Dash' Handicap, especially if the forecast rain arrives. He ran well in the race last year and I’m led to believe he was a little unlucky that day.

However, that was from a mark of 92 and he’s off 109 now. We’ve stuck Connor Murtagh on to take 7lb off and we know he handles the hurly burly of this race. He’s in good nick too.

We’re double-handed in the closing Investec Asset Management Handicap. George Bowen is proving a pain in the backside. He’s in great form at home and is very well handicapped but I’ve been saying that for a year. He did run a bit better at York last time, at least he travelled well there, and if he ran as he works he’d win this.

We also run Paddy Power who finally got his head in front at Newmarket last time. That could just do his confidence the world of good. They run for the same owner and it would be great if both ran their race.

Full Of Promise must have a chance in the Edinburgh Gin's Seaside Handicap at Musselburgh. She might just have needed the run at Thirsk first time out and the step up to seven furlongs will really suit her.

It Don’t Come Easy is a colt I really like. He ran ok on debut at the York Dante Meeting but I have to say I was a little disappointed with him that day. He came back fine so we’ll see what happens in the ebfstallions.com Edinburgh Castle Stakes.

I think the mile trip in the Ian Macleod Distillers Handicap will suit Lord Commander a lot better than the mile-and-a-half we tired him over at York. I’m happy with him, he’s in good order, but I just hope he handles the track as he’s a big unit.

The Eagle’s Nest is progressing nicely and I was pleased with his run at Catterick the other day. If he switches off he could run well here.

We run two debutants in the Betfred TV EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes at Doncaster.

Mountain Meadow is a homebred of Mel Roberts’ and will definitely come on for the run. She might just need a trip in time.

Paramount Love is a nice filly by Pivotal who has been going well at home. We like her, she’ll win a maiden and it would be a nice start to her career if it was this one.

I was a little disappointed with Shypen at York but she had a bad draw there and we had to go forward with her. The Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Fillies' Handicap looks an easier opening for her and I’d expect her to go well providing we’re not going back too quick.

Guzman is a two-year-old I like and he’s going to get better as the season goes on.

He did well to win at Thirsk on debut and heads to the Graham Wylie Foundation EBF Novice Stakes at Newcastle where he should go well.

I hope the British Masters At Close House Fillies' Handicap doesn’t come too soon for Island Flame following her reappearance at York because track, trip and surface look ideal for her.
