Nap Of The Day

Horse Racing Tips: Nap of the Day

Matt Brocklebank had two winners on Monday including the 9/4 Nap at Lingfield - check out his selections for Tuesday's racing.

Tuesday selections

SILKY WILKIE - 7.20 Southwell (NAP)

The BetUK Over 40,000 Live Streamed Races Handicap is one of the more attractive betting races of the day and SILKY WILKIE makes plenty of appeal.

Karl Burke's horses have been in great shape all year and this three-year-old has held his form pretty well since winning at Haydock in August, his third turf victory of the summer campaign.

He arguably put in another career-best when second to Fine Wine over this course and distance last month, when he had the reopposing Alligator Alley just behind, and that made it two good all-weather runs from the horse as he also filled the runner-up spot at Newcastle back in June.

He's only gone up 1lb and, with more improvement to come on synthetic surfaces this winter, he should take plenty of beating under capable 7lb claimer Sam Feilden.

VENGEANCE - 1.35 Fontwell

VENGEANCE was done for a bit of raw speed over two miles and three furlongs on good ground at Fontwell last time but returns to the same venue over a slightly longer trip in the Country Inns - Pubs, Restaurants & Rooms Novices' Handicap Hurdle.

He should also enjoy the easier underfoot conditions as he was placed in a heavy-ground bumper 12 months ago. The four-year-old is entitled to strip fitter for the seasonal reappearance run and could improve significantly now switched into the handicap ranks from a very workable mark of 104.

In-form Daryl Jacob - 6-24 for the yard so far this season - taking over from a claiming rider also looks a positive move for Harry Whittington's new recruit.

EATON COLLINA - 3.25 Uttoxeter

EATON COLLINA has always had the look of a nice chaser in the making and despite making a few mistakes first time out in this sphere at Ffos Las in October, he's well worth another chance in the Quinnbet.com Handicap Chase at Uttoxeter.

Kerry Lee's horse won a novices' handicap hurdle at Hereford in good style back in February and he's only rated 5lb higher over fences having been dropped a couple of pounds for the seasonal reappearance run which was hardly a disgrace and no doubt brought him on a bit, both mentally and physically.

The extra couple of furlongs on offer here should help too and it's a very winnable race.

December winners:

  • Go Steady 9/4 (NAP)
  • Coolbane Boy 6/5
  • Great D'Ange 3/1
