Queen's Trust will try to retain her crown in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Del Mar

Queen's Trust will try to retain her crown in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Del Mar on November 4.

The four-year-old is set to line up again for Sir Michael Stoute in the Grade One contest, which will this year run be run over nine furlongs rather than a mile and a quarter.

Since tasting victory in last year's race at Santa Anita, the daughter of Dansili has failed to score in five subsequent outings back in Europe.

Chris Richardson, racing manager to owners Cheveley Park Stud, said: "The plan is that Queen's Trust will go to the Breeders' Cup to try to defend her title.

"I know it is not ideal on the sharp track and the nine furlongs is a little bit less than she would like, but she is another year older with a bit more experience.

"She is breaking from the starting stalls a little better than she was and hopefully the ground should be in her favour. She is so much better on quick ground.

"Every time we have competed in races at the major meetings this year, the ground always seemed to go against us. I was hoping she would have scored a couple of times this year, but that has not happened."

Rockfel Stakes winner Juliet Capulet is also set to sport the Cheveley Park colours as she steps up to a mile for the first time in the Juvenile Fillies Turf contest on November 3.

Richardson added: "Juliet Capulet will go for the Juvenile Fillies Turf race. John (Gosden) was pleased with the way she came out of the race at Newmarket.

"It was purely John who made the suggestion and Mr and Mrs Thompson (owners of Cheveley Park) thought they would like to give it a go. I think she is a seven-furlong filly, but the mile trip around the sharp track should suit her."
