Ms Parfois could step up in class for Aintree target

Ms Parfois could step up to the top table for the first time in her career if she takes up a possible engagement in the Betway Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree on April 13.

Trainer Anthony Honeyball is considering giving the seven-year-old, who found only Rathvinden too strong in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, an outing in the three-mile-one-furlong contest on Merseyside, should the ground remain soft.

He said: "She ran very well at Cheltenham and we were pleased with the run, but I was very disappointed not to win and I can't hide that. She got there in tip-top shape after a great season. It was not necessarily the target, but with the ground coming right it looked like the right thing to do.

"It was an amazing race and the two pulled a long way clear. I thought she might do it halfway up the run in, but she didn't quite have that extra injection of speed. We will keep her ticking over and see what the weather does.

"There is the three-mile-one Grade One novices' chase at Aintree or there is a Listed handicap over the same trip we could stick her in.

"There is also a Listed mares' chase at Perth later in April, but that would be the last port of call. I think the Grade One at Aintree if it came up soft is definitely an option as she would have every right to go for it. If we think the ground is not going to happen for her we will just stop for the season."
