Midterm is likely to head for the Ormonde Stakes at Chester's May meeting following his satisfactory return to action at Newbury on Saturday.
The one-time Derby favourite was forced to miss the bulk of his three-year-old season through injury but returned to run a promising race in the Champion Stakes.
Making his seasonal return in the John Porter at Newbury for Sir Michael Stoute he finished fifth, beaten just over two lengths.
Midterm is by Galileo and out of the champion racemare Midday, owned by Khalid Abdullah, and his racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said: "He had an interrupted campaign last year as he suffered a stress fracture on his pelvis.
"In the Champion Stakes he didn't do much early on, then looked like he would be swallowed up but then he ran on again.
"On Saturday I think we were a little disappointed. I think if we can get him right there is lots of improvement in him. I think he could go to the Ormonde."
Another Stoute inmate, the Frankel colt Mirage Dancer, won his only start to date at Doncaster and holds entries in the Dante and the Derby.
"He made a good impression when he won at Doncaster. He is quite a big, scopey horse. I talked to Sir Michael about him this morning but there is no exact plan," said Grimthorpe.
"He is going to work over the weekend and then we will make a plan. I think he is mile-and-a-quarter-plus horse."
Platitude is a Listed winner over a mile and three-quarters and looks a likely type for the Cup races.
Grimthorpe said: "I'm not sure he will make the Yorkshire Cup as he had a bit of a setback during the winter but he has recovered well.
"He has been working nicely and Sir Michael has put him in the Gold Cup. We think he can be a nice stayer, but whether we get as far as that I don't know. I wouldn't expect anything too early with him."
