Nimr expelled any stamina doubts when bounding clear in the closing stages to win the sunbets.co.uk Lincoln Trial Handicap at Wolverhampton.
Trainer Richard Fahey had expressed concerns about the five-year-old's ability to last out the extended mile but they proved unfounded as the son of Shamardal boosted his prospects of getting in the Lincoln proper with a convincing display.
Tony Hamilton had Nimr just off the pace, set by Dream Walker and Abareeq, before unleashing him in the straight where he produced a telling turn of foot to put the race to bed within a matter of strides.
The 3-1 favourite, wearing the colours of Al Shaqab Racing, went on to register his third course victory as he strode home by a length and three-quarters from Forceful Appeal. Holiday Magic was another head away third.
"He's a horse we've always liked," Hamilton told At The Races.
"He's still relatively got low miles on the clock. He's only run nine times in his life.
"He can be very keen in his races, but he switched off well enough.
"We went an even gallop and I thought I was going to win from turning in.
"I was in a pocket and looking for a bit of room, but I know I had the horse to get me out of it.
"Once he got away he picked up and won nicely, so it's onward and upwards for the Lincoln.
"It's madness he's not guaranteed a run yet in the Lincoln.
"He won off 94 and will get a penalty, so it just shows you what a hard race it is to win."
