Check out what the trainers are saying plus a Man On The Spot verdict for Thursday's big TV races at Newmarket.

1350 Bahrain Trophy

What the trainers say:

Tim Easterby - Wells Farhh Go: "He's in good form and he should run well, fingers crossed. He's stepping up from a mile a mile and a half and that should be OK."

Charlie Appleby - Loxley: "I was pleased with Loxley's first run of the season and he came out of the race well. He won on good to firm ground that day, so similar conditions won't be a problem, and we hope that the step up in trip this week will see further improvement."

Berkshire Blue, Caliburn and Loxley arrive on the back of victories in novice company with the latter preferred on last month’s convincing success over 1m2 here. Winning handicapper First Eleven also faces tougher opposition after placing at Ascot but will still prove popular given the Gosden yard has won four of the last seven renewals but GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI (NAP) has the proven form at this level. Runner-up in a Group 2 at the Curragh last time when well ahead of stablemate Victory Salute, Aidan O’Brien’s progressive colt had earlier finished in front of Wells Farhh Go when third in the King Edward V11 over 1m4f at Royal Ascot and looks the one to beat. Better was expected of the latter at Ascot but this longer trip should suit and he’s preferred to Global Giant.

1425 Arqana July Stakes

What the trainers say:

Martyn Meade Advertise: "He beat everything on his side in the Coventry, he just didn't know anything about the horse on the other side. Having said that, you can't take anything away from Calyx, he looks very good. Nevertheless, it was a very good run from our horse.

"Thankfully we're not bumping into him this time. He's got a favourite's chance, I'd say, and the ground should be fine for him, not dissimilar to Ascot.

"I toyed with the idea of running him in the Superlative on Saturday over seven furlongs, as he took a bit of time to get going in both his races, but we decided to stick to six for now."

John Gosden - Legends Of War: "He got a temperature and a cough and his blood was wrong which meant he missed the Coventry, so thank goodness we didn't run him. He comes here fresh, he's in good form. We'll be looking to run a nice race. He's got a good turn of foot, so we'll be looking to put it to best use."

Van Beethoven is one the most experienced in the field and landed a Group 2 sprint at the Curragh recently with stable companion North Wind three lengths behind. The Ballydoyle colt looks sure to be thereabouts at the finish and is preferred to Konchek, who disappointed in the Norfolk at Ascot but still finished in front of Charming Kid. Advertise found only Calyx too good in the Coventry at Ascot and should go well again but the latter is trained by John Gosden and the Newmarket handler runs LEGENDS OF WAR in this. The Scat Daddy colt made a winning start in novice company at Yarmouth when showing an impressive turn of foot and it would be no surprise if he proves up to this level. Dunkerron and Sporting Chance look up again it in this company.

1535 Princess Of Wales's Arqana Racing Club Stakes

What the trainers say:

Roger Varian - Barsanti: "He has come out of his run in the Hardwicke Stakes in good shape - he looks well and is training well. Nothing has come to light to explain his performance in the Hardwicke, where he was right there turning for home but did not finish off the race as we would have liked. Even so, he was not beaten very far.

"I can't see any reason why the July Course will be a problem and the combination of a mile and a half and fast ground ought to suit him pretty well. It looks a warm renewal - it's a competitive race. Barsanti put up a strong performance when just beating Mirage Dancer at Ascot in May and a repeat of that would see him right in the mix."

Saeed bin Suroor - Best Solution: "He needed a break having been quite busy at Meydan earlier in the year. After he ran in Dubai, we gave him a break and it has been the target for him to start here this season.

"His best form to date has been on easy ground, but he seems to handle a faster surface these days, and we will just have to see how he fares on it. He is already a Group Three winner, so a prestigious Group Two race like this one is a good starting point for him. He has been working well, is in good form and we're looking for a good run from him."

Barsanti was no match for Crystal Ocean in the Hardwicke at Ascot last month but meets nothing of that calibre here. Best Solution found last year’s winner Hawkbill too good in the Sheema Classic at Meydan when last in action but is not out of this while Duretto finished in front of last year’s third Algometer over a longer trip at York last time. Jim Crowley sticks with Laraaib despite the latter finishing behind Muntahaa in the Wolferton where Mirage Dancer ran into trouble. The latter is closely matched with Barsanti on earlier running and should figure with a clear run but a chance is taken on RAA ATOLL. John Gosden’s three-year-old showed further progress in a Group 2 at Ascot when finishing just behind third-placed Giuseppe Garibaldi and could go close getting plenty of weight from the older horses today.
