Karl Burke won this with subsequent duel Group 1 winner Quiet Reflection in 2015 and True Mason drops back down in trip after placing in the Mill Reef at Newbury. He had earlier finished third in a Group 2 in France when in front of Pocket Dynamo and should make a bold bid. The latter’s best effort so far came at Ascot when narrowly beaten over the minimum trip in the Norfolk Stakes but SERGEI PROKOVIEV makes most appeal. The Ballydoyle colt has struggled in Group 1 events over 6f since placing i the Coventry at Ascot but had shown bags of speed when landing a double over 5f in Ireland earlier including a Listed race at Naas and is preferred to stablemate Fantasy. Well Done Fox has won a couple of Listed events over 5f while Poetry is on the upgrade but raised in class after winning at Chantilly and the remainder are harder to recommend.

"She's in good form. She's only had the one run and we would have preferred that she had more experience, but we think the experience will do her good and she should come forward again from the run."

"She's a lovely filly and won very well on the all-weather at Newcastle and does have a predominantly dirt pedigree. She ran terribly on her debut on turf, but we forgave her as we knew she was better than that. We'll find out if she's as good on the turf as she is on the all-weather."

"We've been happy with her since Goodwood and that form has worked out well. She's in good form and I think this is the right place for her."

Angel's Hideaway sets the standard on her Group 3 success at Ascot but attempts 7f for the first time and is the most exposed. Hidden Message made an impressive start with victory over 6f at Yarmouth and should figure but FROSTY also left a good impression when scoring over today’s trip at Dundalk on her debut. Aidan O’Brien’s filly had stablemate and favourite Credenza back in third on that occasion and the latter has subsequently won. Glance took a big step forward when scoring at Goodwood and beating subsequent winners Sunday Star and Mot Juste in the process. The latter represents last year’s winning yard and is preferred to Mistress Of Love and Emerald Approach.

"At least it wasn't a 50-50 call last week, I didn't bother going in the end - Henry (Candy,trainer) stepped on the course, walked a few yards and knew straight away (he'd be a non-runner). I keep watching the forecasts, I've spoken to Michael Prosser (clerk of the course) and hopefully Newmarket misses most of the rain.

"Henry has been at the sales and has looked at the track, it's fine at the moment. Although it's a smaller field than when he won last year, I think it's a higher calibre of opponent. All we can do is rock up and see. If he doesn't get to run the only other option is Champions Day (at Ascot), but it would need to recover from what they had last Saturday and in this country in late October, anything can happen with the weather."

LIMATO may not be the force of old but is still capable at this level as he proved when winning last year’s renewal by over three lengths with Gordon Lord Byron back in third. Henry Candy’s charge arrives in good form having landed a couple of Listed events recently and has his favoured ground today. D'bai just missed out in a Group 2 at Doncaster last month when Breton Rock was well beaten and collateral form should give Charlie Appleby’s charge the beating of Zonderland. Dancing Star won the Group 3 Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster recently and could go well along with Mankib. The latter put a below par effort on the all-weather behind him when landing a Listed race at Newbury and is taken to reverse earlier running with Salateen today.

Michael Bell - Pretty Pollyanna

"We're very happy with her well-being. She's had a relatively easy time since the Cheveley Park, but Danny came and sat on her on Saturday during a couple of canters up Warren Hill and he was very happy. We think she should stay seven furlongs, but we are going into uncharted territory over the mile. It's 440 yards further than she's been before, but I'm hopeful regarding the trip and we're looking forward to it."

Ralph Beckett - Antonia De Vega

"She's in good form and we're looking forward to running her. She's had no problems since Goodwood. It was always the plan to bring her straight for this race. That's what we set out to do and I'm pleased we're getting there. I think the mile will suit her."

Aidan O'Brien - Hermosa and Zagitova

O'Brien said of Hermosa: "Obviously she (Hermosa) only ran in Naas the other day, but we've been happy with her since. She's progressing with every run.

"Zagitova has been in good form since the Moyglare and we were very happy with her run there. She's a big filly and hopefully she is progressing with every run too."

Charlie Appleby - Beyond Reason

"Beyond Reason will be back on a sound surface in the Fillies' Mile and I think the step up to a mile will suit her. As a proven Group Two winner she was a little disappointing in Ireland last time, but William (Buick) said the ground was riding dead and felt she wasn't very comfortable on it. She has freshened up well since then and we are hopeful she will be very competitive on Friday."

Aidan O’Brien won this three times in a row before missing out last year. Hermosa looks to have strong claims having won a Group 3 over 7f at Naas last time and finishing third in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud at the Curragh before that when ahead of stablemate Zagitova and the Godolphin filly Beyond Reason. Iridessa finished in front of the Ballydoyle filly earlier but could only manage third on fast going at Leopardstown last time while Antonia De Vega won a maiden before landing the Group 3 Prestige Stakes over 7f at Goodwood and is preferred to Layaleena and the unbeaten Shambolic, who defied a penalty in novice company over a mile at Ascot last month. But PRETTY POLLYANNA has won at the highest level over 6f with victory in the Prix Morny at Deauville and her pedigree suggests this longer trip should be within her compass. A chance is taken Michael Bell’s filly lasts home and she gets the vote.
