Free horse racing selections for Monday May 6

David Clough fancies Muatadel to return to winning ways at Beverley - he previews the Bank Holiday Monday action.

NAP: Harry's Bar (2.35 Windsor)

Next Best: Muatadel (3.40 Beverley)

Muatadel appears to have been found an excellent opportunity to get back on the winning trail at Beverley.

Roger Fell's charge was victorious on his only previous to the Westwood a couple of seasons ago and is 7lb lower ahead of the Leconfield Handicap on Bank Holiday Monday.

His fall in the weights was brought about by a lengthy lean spell, but he brought that to an end when dead-heating on the all-weather at Newcastle in February and made a promising return to the turf when third at Redcar a fortnight ago.

This seven-furlong contest does not look strong on paper and Muatadel should prove hard to beat.

Later on the card, Where's Jeff appeals as a likely lad in the Brian Dixon Memorial Handicap.

Mick Easterby's four-year-old made an encouraging reappearance in April, in his case with a close fourth at Nottingham.

He has been dropped 1lb for that decent effort, and ought to be well-suited by this modest rise in trip to 10 furlongs. The forecast good ground ought to be perfect too.

At Windsor, Harry's Bar may raise cheer or two in the Phil Rendell Forty-Thirteenth Birthday Handicap.

James Fanshawe's Exceed And Excel gelding was turned over at odds-on when he made a belated return in a Kempton novice in March.

But 10 months after his Yarmouth debut, a one-and-a-half-length second was no disgrace, and then a close third behind a couple of decent three-year-olds over the same course and distance was a step in the right direction.

On that basis, it would be no surprise to see Harry's Bar make an immediate impact in handicap company on the turf.

Oneovdem is another with decent handicap prospects at Bath.

The five-year-old finished his winter campaign with admirable consistency, continuing to improve albeit in defeat at Kempton and Lingfield after scoring his maiden success at Wolverhampton.

He was promising on turf last summer too - and after a short break, should be ready again for the F45 Bath Group Training, Life Changing Handicap.

Over jumps, Tommy Silver will have conditions to his liking again at Kempton as he bids to take his recent record to three wins from his last four attempts.

The Get Switched On With Matchbook Handicap Chase is another obvious opportunity for Paul Nicholls' resurgent force, who was an easy winner of a two-runner race over course and distance less than a fortnight ago.

At Warwick, the Join Racing TV Now Novices' Handicap Chase looks the right race for Cruiseaweigh.

The lightly-raced eight-year-old's chasing career has yet to take off, but he is likely to prove above this class in time.
