1.30 Doncaster

Everything here points towards a big run from PRIMO'S COMET.

Only seven go to post but four of these led last time it, and a strong pace looks assured, which will suit the selection's come-from-behind style to a t. He gets his favoured quick ground and comes here after a seasons best effort, just getting the wrong end of the bob at Musselburgh last time and was beaten a nose by the well-treated Militia.

Had he got the nod there, he'd be carrying a 4lb penalty for this, and because his previous effort at Hamilton six days earlier was below par, he's on that new mark today and is 2lb lower here.

It's not hard to see how well treated he is here, then, and having only just been denied on his only other start at Doncaster, the track holds no fears either. A lot in his favour and he won't get many better chances to score.

3.00 Newmarket

There are two we would take against the field here. Khandjar is a warm favourite on the basis of a three-lengths win at Ripon, but Ripon runner-up AZURE BLUE is 7lb better off and retains the scope to do better herself.

She wasn’t suited by having to make much of the running there, and will appreciate the return to a well-run race, and the form of her wide-margin win at Hamilton prior to that looks very solid, with several of those behind her winning or running well in defeat subsequently.

At an even bigger price, LIL GUFF should outrun her price. A dual winner this term, she ran well at Royal Ascot despite dropping back to 5f and being drawn on the wrong side, and although she seemed to run below form at Newbury last time, that small-field race was not run to suit her hold-up tactics, and she is capable of leaving it behind with a strong pace to chase here.

2.45 Carlisle

Those looking to back Azure Blue will be hopeful that LADY LADE can boost her Hamilton win by scoring in the British EBF Fillies’ Stakes which will be shown on ITV.

A course winner last year, Lady Lade has been running with credit over 6f in recent starts, and looks well drawn to make all the running over this slightly shorter trip. Her best efforts have come on stiff tracks, and the extended 5f on fast turf looks ideal for her at Carlisle.
