Wolverhampton Friday tips: Man On The Spot preview

Check out our race-by-race verdicts and nap selection for Friday evening's meeting at Wolverhampton.

4.10

Several of these have been thereabouts of late. Thegreyvtrain placed over track and trip and gets a change of headgear while Arcavallo wasn’t beaten far off today’s mark at Newcastle. Raspberry finished ahead of Red Allure when posting a better effort here having tumbled down the weights but another chance goes to MANSFIELD. The latter has been racing on the Turf since landing a more competitive contest over course and distance in September and gets the vote on that form.

4.45

Passional won at Southwell yesterday and carries a penalty. She finished just ahead of TROUSER THE CASH when second over track and trip last month with the latter doing well to finish so close having been hampered early in the race and Amy Murphy’s filly is fancied to turn the tables in this. Queens Road also finished behind the selection on her reappearance while Kyllukey won at Chelmsford back in March and Dubai Paradise was placed at the same track more recently.

5.15

Formerly with Godolphin, BEAUTY STONE took advantage of a slide down the weights and scored over track and trip last time. There looks more to come off her new mark and Tom Ward’s filly can go in again. Sea Of Marmoon is fitted with a hood and steps up in distance having won at Newcastle when last racing on the Tapeta while Maharg's Princess is another upped in trip. Keane's Kingdom and Mister Blue go handicapping for the first time with the former preferred.

5.45

TO THE BAR showed a big improvement when romping home at Southwell. It’s difficult to assess how much of that improvement can be attributed to the Fibresand surface but he should figure again despite today’s penalty. The Sedberghian placed at Newcastle last time having earlier won a fillies only race over track and trip while Open Mystery finished third over 6f on his debut and Dragon's Fire may also improve for this longer distance.

6.15

DESERT BOOTS won over today’s trip at Lingfield last time and it could pay to stick with Mark Johnston’s charge now he’s got his head in front. Hafez drops back down in distance having placed at Kempton while Bomb Squad went close over track and trip earlier and made the frame once again last time. A host of these go handicapping for the first time with the likes of Thapa VC, Global Vision, Uproar and Highly Dancer worth noting for any significant support in the betting.

6.45

LAMPANG (NAP) has scope for further progress having finished a creditable second in Listed company at Lingfield. Tim Easterby’s colt should make another bold bid handicapping for the first time and looks the one to side with. Venturous beat Exalted Angel at Newcastle before finding Lord Riddiford too good over track and trip and the latter can figure once again while Spoof has been making hay in lower grade sprints and bids for a four-timer raised a further 3lb. Lingfield winner Lihou is another upped in class while Lipsink may improve on only his second outing for new connections.

7.15

ALPHONSE KARR finished well clear of the rest when making a race of it with the odds-on favourite at Chelmsford on his debut. He looks up to winning at this level on that evidence. Elusive Treat showed improvement when runner-up at Newcastle and Expert Opinion is going the right way after finishing closer at Lingfield while Global Response and Wudashudacuda are others to note. Lead Story is a €130,000 purchase and half-sister to winning stablemate Newscaster and is preferred to Nevile Chamberlain of the newcomers.

7.45

Singing The Blues finished in front of previous winner Battle Of Marathon when going close over 2m at Lingfield last time but AUTUMN WAR looks worth sticking with. The betting suggested the latter would improve for an earlier comeback run and Ian William’s charge duly won over course and distance when beating Thai Terrier. The runner-up should go well again while Figeac and Manjaam finished further behind the selection and the latter boosted the form by scoring at Newcastle last week.

8.15

Cinzento won over a shorter trip at Kempton back in February while there was little between Epaneema and Ember's Glow when they filled the places over 1m4f here last month. Uncle Bernie won over 2m at the track in October and is preferred to Imajorblush while Lady Of Authority never threatened the winner when placed here last time. But TRULY TOGETHER, an Italian import, caught the eye staying on for fourth over 1m4f on her first outing for Marco Botti and this extra distance may bring further progress.
