Man On The Spot best bets for Wolverhampton on Saturday

Check out our race-by-race verdicts and nap selection for this evening's meeting at Wolverhampton.

4.30

Only 3lb separates this bunch at the weights but BEAU GESTE has been in the mix since landing a double here back in February and may prove the one to side with. Recuerdame and Amor Fati scored off lower marks here in October while Carey Street placed over track and trip on his penultimate start and has recently switched yards. The King's Steed had Silver Cliffs back in third when scoring over 7f at Salisbury last month and the latter debuts on the all-weather.

5.00

AMADEUS GREY has been in good form at Southwell and won over a mile at the latter track last time but he’s placed on Tapeta before and can go close again. Imperial Square also arrives from a run at Southwell and makes his handicap debut while Rogue Tide completed a double in October, including a course and distance success. Mabre can do better back over this longer trip while Harlow returns to the all-weather with headgear applied but Must Be An Angel runs over a mile for the first time after placing at Kempton.

5.30

Athmad bids for a hat-trick of course and distance wins raised only 3lb and beat both Zafaranah and Star Of Valour for the first of those victories. Cityzen Serg opened his account over track and trip a week ago but is 6lb higher and CONVERTIBLE is less exposed. Hugo Palmer’s charge scored at Redcar on his handicap debut and first outing in a tongue-tie and there should be more to come from him. Pacino posted a better effort at Newcastle recently while Daafr won here last month and drops back down in class.

6.00

POMELO struggled in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood when last in action but Ralph Beckett’s filly had earlier made an impressive winning debut at Newbury and her yard could hardly be in better form. The Godolphin filly Romantic Song failed to land the odds when only third at Kempton while Jury Pico never threatened when placed at the same track on her debut. But Talbeyah is a half-sister to a Listed winner while fellow newcomer and €200,000 purchase Sea La Rosa is another to keep an eye on.

6.30

DIVINE MAGIC showed some ability when third at Newcastle on her debut and gets a speculative vote in an open contest. Sisu also ran well for fourth at Kempton on her introduction while both Beloved and Gwenhwyvar showed signs of promise over today’s trip on the Turf. Of the newcomers, Kusnacht is a half-sister to six winners including Group 2 winner Berkshire while Mawenzi is related to a Listed winner and Super Proud’s dam won over today’s trip as a two-year-old.

7.00

ALWAYS DREAMING posted her best effort so far when dropped back to today’s trip at Newcastle for her handicap debut. Several go handicapping for the first time including Glesga Gal, who drops down from Listed company, while Global Vision steps up from 6f after placing here. Wurlitzer and Capla Dream are others open to improvement now handicapping but Host and Bomb Squad are more exposed having both placed on the all-weather on their latest outings.

7.30

EAGLE CREEK (NAP) hasn’t had much racing, despite his age, and returned to winning ways at Chelmsford when beating Beauty Choice. A 3lb rise may not be enough to anchor Bill Knight’s charge in this. Kapono won at Newcastle before finding one too good last time but is 4lb higher today while Clinician was no match for the winner when second at Kempton having earlier won over track and trip. Fighting Temeraire may prove best of the rest returning from a lay-off.

8.00

Dance To Paris won over 2m at Kempton last month and can figure again while Niblawi reverted to the Flat with a third over track and trip. Manjaam finished fourth over 1m4f here last month between outings over hurdles and is preferred to Mukha Magic but AMTIYAZ will likely prove popular. John Gosden’s colt opened his account with an easy win over 1m4f at Newcastle and this extra distance looks likely to bring further progress as he makes his handicap debut.

8.30

GOWANLAD won a novices contest at Newcastle on his first start of the year. He beat similar types to these and should make another bold bid now handicapping. Lezardrieux has been in the mix since scoring over track and trip last month and Lilkian is another usually thereabouts at this level. Inevitable Outcome has a shout on his recent efforts over course and distance as he drops down in class while Rubia Bella is less exposed than most.
