Man On The Spot preview and best bets for Wolverhampton on Friday evening

Resident tipster Man On The Spot looks ahead to each race at Wolverhampton on Friday evening, including a Nap selection.

AL SALT won on this surface at Newcastle last month when beating the odds-on favourite and subsequent winner Tilsit. Rated 85, the Haggas charge looks the one to beat and can defy a penalty. Wightman has plenty to find on these terms and the returning Machios may prove a bigger threat on last year’s fourth at Salisbury. Of the newcomers, Prize Fighting is a brother to a Group 3 winner among others and preferred to Stay Calm and the latter’s stablemate Byford.

MASTER OF BRAZIL stands out of those with racecourse experience having found only one too good over today’s trip at Lingfield on his debut. Michael Bell’s charge gets the vote with Silvestre De Sousa taking over the reins. Anjaaletta and Cuban Fox finished well behind the selection but Desert Vision and Smooth Spirit can only improve. Fandabidozi is a brother to a Group 3 winner in Germany and preferred to Tinchoo of the newcomers.

Bombastic ended a long losing run when narrowly beating Thaayer at Newcastle last time and that pair are hard to separate. But STREET POET (NAP) makes more appeal as he rattled-up a four-timer here last summer and remains on a winning mark despite a 3lb rise for his latest success in March. Gavi Di Gavi ran well at Kempton on his reappearance and will be winning again this year while Molly Mai went close at Chelmsford recently, though this is tougher. Blistering Barney makes his handicap debut and is one to keep an eye on.

None of this bunch inspire confidence. Rocketeer won over track and trip in March but has been well beaten in both subsequent starts, including behind third-placed Sparkling Diamond at Kempton. The latter never troubled the winner on that occasion and Pull Harder Con never threatened when placed at Chelmsford. Marina Grove may prove best of those handicapping for the first time but GMASHA wasn’t beaten far when fifth over track and trip on her earlier handicap debut and gets a token vote.

SPUROFTHEMOMENT showed a big improvement for the fitting of a tongue-tie at Lingfield last week and romped home by over six lengths. She can defy a penalty and strike again before the handicapper catches up. Kath's Lustre has been in good form on the Polytrack and should be thereabouts again while Shepherds Way looks worth another try over this longer trip on her second outing for a new yard. Charming Spirit struggled in soft going on her reappearance but Klopp looks high enough in the weights now.

Alba Del Sole won over the minimum trip at Leicester earlier in the week but has a poor strike rate on the all-weather. The same comment applies to Valley Belle, who finished runner-up at the same Leicester meeting three days ago, while One One Seven has recorded his last couple of wins here in lowly classified races. SIMBA SAMBA won on Tapeta last year and, having placed in a tougher sprint at Yarmouth last month, it could be his turn again today. Poppy May looks best of the rest.

PRECIOUS PLUM won at Southwell in March but has scored three times here in the past and should be thereabouts at the finish again. Solar Park won over today’s trip on his last visit with Krystallite behind and is preferred to Camachess, who has done all her winning so far over 6f. Shepherd's Purse also scored here in October and is preferred to Dark Side Dream only 2lb higher today.

Thai Power is penalised for winning over today’s trip at Kempton last month though scored with plenty in hand and should go close again. But GALATA BRIDGE found only the unbeaten Tuscan Gaze too good at Newbury on his reappearance and is expected to improve for this extra distance on his second outing after wind surgery. Lismore also went close over 1m2f at Lingfield last time and is another to consider while Utopian Lad will find this easier than his latest task at Goodwood.
