Check out our race-by-race verdicts and nap selection for Friday's meeting at Newcastle.
Last year’s winner Anif won here again last time with Twisted Dreams back in third. The latter beat subsequent winner Bringitonboris at the track last month but LA RAV may come out best of those with recent winning form. He had the measure of Anif before landing a course and distance double with last month’s success and Mick Easterby’s charge gets the vote in a tight contest. Song of The Isles has been in fine form on testing going over 7f on the Turf and can race off a lower mark back on the all-weather today.
Perfect Swiss finished runner-up yet again when finding Anif too good here last time. The latter is due to run in the opening race along with La Rav, who beat Daniel Deronda over track and trip last month. With Respect has been thereabouts over 7f on Turf having slipped down the weights but a chance is taken PARALLEL WORLD takes to the surface. The latter won twice on the Fibresand at Southwell last year and with a recent comeback run at Doncaster under his belt, Karl Burke’s charge may prove good enough.
Pockley is penalised having won over 7f here recently and looks vulnerable to the handicap debutants including Currency Exchange. The latter also steps up from 7f along with Night Of Romance but Smart Qibili went close over track and trip last month. Military Man returned a losing favourite at Wolverhampton while Annandale won a novices race over 1m2f at Bath. ALBERT CAMUS has been rested since failing to figure in a decent maiden race at Newmarket in September. But John Gosden has an impressive strike rate here and improvement is expected today in what looks a wide-open contest.
Quest For Fun wasn’t beaten that far when only sixth over 7f here and drops down in trip along with Tiny Danser, fourth over 7f at the track last month. But KRATOS finished runner-up over course and distance on his debut and Roger Varian’s colt may be the one to side with given normal progress. Carbon Positive has faced tougher tasks and Newmarket and Ascot so far while Hugsy is related to several winners and is a newcomer to note along with Tributo.
Fantasy Keeper finished ahead of Kind Review over track and trip when returning to winning ways. He’s won off a higher mark in the past and is preferred to Buniann, who scored over the minimum trip here last month. Outrage has been thereabouts over 5f recently while Gunmetal and Call Me Ginger drop down in class but so does DANDYS GOLD (NAP). The latter went close the last time she raced over course and distance and Roger Fell’s mare has an apprentice taking 7lb off her back today.
Roundel has had plenty of chances as he drops back into novice company though is weighted to get the better of the likes of Stroxx and Arju. But SHOW ME A SUNSET is less exposed and having gone close over today’s trip before finding one too good again over 5f at Wolverhampton, James Fanshawe’s charge gets the vote. Fauvette has placed in both outings so far and looks best of the rest back on the all-weather for this.
Nibras Again scored over track and trip last month with Big Lachie and Modular Magic behind and is 4lb higher. Ballyare has been raised 7lb after beating the consistent Lord Of The Glen here and the latter has subsequently won at Southwell but TATHMEEN makes most appeal. He’s gone close the last twice now and having won three times over course and distance early in the year, Antony Brittain’s charge looks set for a return to winning ways off his current mark.
Klopp won over 5f at Wolverhampton last month but AVENUE OF STARS was winning over today’s trip during the summer. He’s returning from a lay-off but has gone well fresh before and a bold bid is expected. Medicine Jack has been in better form of late and placed at Catterick last time. He’s preferred to Oriental Lilly while Buccaneers Vault is back on a winning mark if rediscovering his best.
Rockley Point won at Catterick last time and can go well again while Qaaraat is regularly in the mix but rarely wins. ARCAVALLO has also been thereabouts recently looking to end a long losing run and finished in front of Highland Acclaim when third over track and trip a fortnight ago. He gets another chance racing off the same mark. Tilsworth Rose scored at Nottingham last month but has yet to win on the all-weather in 16 attempts and It Must Be Faith is preferred.
