Man On The Spot best bets for Happy Valley on Wednesday

Check out our race-by-race verdicts and nap selection for Wednesday's meeting at Happy Valley.

11.15

Virtus Star, still a maiden after 14 starts, has had a break since finishing strongly here in January and another furlong wouldn't go amiss. Galaxy Racer ran a fine race at Sha Tin then was strongly supported here a fortnight ago but couldn't quite get to the leaders. Bundle Of Energy broke a blood vessel last time and is now 0-20 so this can go to GREAT HARVEST, who is well berthed and ready to lose his maiden tag judged on his latest run at Sha Tin when leading for most of the way over slightly further.

11.45

Happy Warrior usually goes well here though Neil Callan's mount has a difficult task from the outside. Best Alliance ran well last time and the in-form Grant Van Nieker will have Dougie Whyte's charge up there but Zac Purton looks to have got on a potential winner in MURRAY'S PARTNERS. His overall form figures don't look too exciting but an impressive run in a recent Trials Day race has set him up for this. Nunchuks has only had five starts and should be capable of better while Chad Schofield can get a tune out of the experienced Amazing Satchmo.

12.15

Farm Bumper steps up a grade with 6lb extra after gaining his first victory here three weeks ago though has a nice berth. Winning Ways has been in fine form since changing stables and it will be a surprise if he's not thereabouts but the vote goes to ZERO HEDGE. Ridden by Grant Van Nieker, he appears to enjoy finishing second but has managed four victories in his career and a middle draw shouldn't be a problem. Winner's Heart was having just his fifth start when narrowly beaten into fourth last time so normal progress can see him involved.

12.45

GREEN DISPATCH (NAP) shot out of the stalls and made all on his penultimate start here but didn't get away as quickly last time and was impeded. There are plenty of early-pacers in this but if he gets away he'll be difficult to catch. Blooming Spirit doesn't need to lead and though in good form could get trapped on the inside. Methane couldn't quite overcome a 6lb rise three weeks ago having won with a bit in hand last month and he's up another 2lb. Dor Dor looks to have a very difficult task from the outside and his victory here in January came from stall one.

1.15

SUPER ALLIANCES had looked a certain future winner when twice runner-up at the turn of the year and might just have been short of a run when disappointing three weeks ago. Chad Schofield can make all on him here. Super Lucky has been frustrating but was staying on so strongly over 5f last time he would have won in another couple of strides so has to be of interest. Shanghai Master is on a long losing run and a wide draw won't help though he's on a fair mark these days. Mehboob gained his only success to date from a mark of 46 here in November and though he's continued to run well he's 12lb higher.

1.45

Dancing Fighter has never been out of the first two in six starts and is likely to climb higher in the ratings in time though he is drawn on the outside and hasn't run since December. Wind N Grass, four times a winner for Ger Lyons in Ireland, had been struggling from his high mark before a very much better effort last time where he dead-heated for third with SHOUSON. The latter was trapped on the inside before staying on and looks the one to beat. Dollar Reward, three times a winner on the all-weather, is 0-31 on Turf.

2.15

Several of these arrive in good form including Sonic Fighter, though his three victories have been at Sha Tin. Naboo Star went up 8lb for a comfortable victory last month and got no sort of run a fortnight ago. That should be ignored and he has an obvious chance of compensation. Tony Cruz' Sunny Lad, a dual winner for John Gosden, hasn't run since second at Newcastle in July and though his trainer will have him ready he has a wide draw to overcome. CINQUANTE CINQ was impressive when scoring here in January and went up 7lb. He couldn't get to Dances With Dragons last month but that was another very good effort and he can get back to winning ways.

2.50

Dougie Whyte and Grant Van Nieker have some good chances tonight and Victory Power is another having just failed to catch Speed Vision two weeks ago. GREEN REIGN has only had five runs and was finishing very strongly when runner-up to This Is Class three weeks ago. With normal improvement he can go one better and again take care of Beauty Spark and Hinchinlove, who followed him home. Winning Method, the youngster in the line-up, was almost 5 lengths behind the latter in January and is still looking high enough in the weights.
