None of these inspire confidence but RIVER WHARFE finished runner-up over today’s trip at Kempton earlier and gets a token vote with headgear applied. Fircombe Hall ran his best race so far when second over 6f at Newcastle while Dutch Light placed at the same track before struggling on her handicap debut. The Whipmaster and Kayfast Warrior may improve now handicapping.

Arthur's Angel finished in front of Banoffee when third at Wolverhampton on his handicap debut and can figure again. NURSE DEE was no match for the winner at Newcastle last month but she finished clear of the rest and Richard Fahey’s charge may prove good enough dropping down a grade for this. Cuban Fox placed in a seller at Lingfield last week and gets a change of headgear while Neminos may do better now handicapping.

AHLAWI has the strongest form having led for most of the way when runner-up to the odds-on favourite over 7f at Kempton last time with Aylesford back in fourth. Hugo Palmer’s colt can confirm running and go one better over this shorter trip. Aylesford looks the main threat given Alehandro and Sir Taweel need a big improvement to figure with Alphonse Karr preferred to Faina Pico of the newcomers.

A couple of these made promising debuts. COMPANIONSHIP finished in front of Ms Gandhi when runner-up from a wide draw at Kempton last time and normal progress should see the Haggas filly off the mark. She’s just preferred to Quenelle D'or, beaten only a neck at Nottingham and likely to go close again. The Gosden pair Bint Al Anood and Hamhama can only improve from moderate debut efforts while Alan King runs a couple of newcomers with Who Cares Wins a half-sister to smart stablemate Who Dares Wins and Quintessa related to a Listed winner.

It could pay to stick with GUMRA as she bids for a four-timer. She recorded her most convincing win so far when scoring over 7f here earlier in the week and this longer trip could bring further progress. Poetry And Art looks a danger handicapping for the first time having placed at Southwell but Wilfy and Freedom And Wheat have something to prove over today’s distance having both won over 7f this year. Must Be An Angel had to be switched for a clear run at Wolverhampton last time and may prove best of the rest.

GENERAL ZOFF has been beaten less than a length on his last couple of outings over 2m at Kempton. He finished in front of both Trinity Girl and Bird For Life on the last of those occasions and Bill Muir’s charge may come good today racing off the same mark as last time. Sir Canford was still beaten a long way when second over 1m6f here earlier in the week with Sea Of Mystery further behind while and Oi The Clubb Oi's scored off a similar mark over 1m6f at Nottingham during the summer.

Frow’s winning run came to an end at Newcastle and he’s 3lb higher today while John Clare won at Leicester before finding one too good at Southwell and is 5lb higher. Maysong wasn’t beaten far when third at Newcastle but this is tougher than the seller Embolden won at Redcar. FROZEN WATER (NAP) has been beaten only a neck in both starts in handicaps and is fitted with blinkers for his debut on the all-weather. Richard Hannon’s colt looks the one to side with if the headgear has the desired effect.

A winner at Bath, Tanqeeb could only manage third off today’s mark at Lingfield last time. He finished ahead of VOI on that occasion but the latter has since placed in a higher grade back at Lingfield and it could be her turn today. Corked and Courtside have both been thereabouts at Newcastle recently while Bayston Hill landed a course and distance double in September. Chinese Whisperer finished closer at Wolverhampton on his latest start and Blue Eagle has more scope than most.

The progressive LAURENTIA was winning for the fourth time this year when scoring over today’s trip at Lingfield. There could be more to come over the distance and she’s preferred to Kingson, who won at Wolverhampton last time and is 6lb higher. Channel Packet steps up in trip on his first outing since February while Fortune Finder makes his handicap debut and Calidus Mirabilis won here early in the year and has been hurdling since joining Amy Murphy.
