A review of the action from Ayr on Sunday, where Jedd O'Keeffe's Komodo got favourite-backers off to a good start in the opener.

Komodo continued Jedd O'Keeffe's rich vein of form when winning the Bet toteexacta At betfred.com Handicap at Ayr.

The Leyburn handler had his first Listed winners recently with More Mischief and Lord Yeats and his healthy strike-rate got even better with the lightly-raced three-year-old, who was his only runner of the day.

Komodo (2/1 favourite) responded to Danny Tudhope's urgings after leading a furlong from home to hold Irish raider Lucent Dream by a diminishing neck, with Royal Regent a length and a quarter away in third.

"He did it really well and got the trip nicely. The little bit of give in the ground didn't inconvenience him. We're happy and he's gradually progressing nicely," said O'Keeffe.

"He's a very good-looking, relaxed horse. He's a strong type and very correct. At some point if he went to the sales he'd be of interest to the jumping boys.

"I think we'll keep him to a mile and a quarter in handicap company. The weight for age allowance is quite useful at this time of year for three-year-olds so we might take advantage of that again."

Trainer Roger Fell and jockey Tony Hamilton were the team to follow, striking with a 67/1 double courtesy of Two For Two and Zodiakos.

Two For Two (7/1) gained a third course and distance success when holding Finn Class by a head in the totepool Racecourse Debit Card Betting Available Handicap.

"Two For Two is fantastic. He's such an old stager and is just grand," said the North Yorkshire handler.

Zodiakos (15/2) stuck on well after leading a furlong out to take the Bet totetrifecta At betfred.com Handicap by a length and a quarter from Abushamah, to claim his first win since his debut two years ago when he was with Hugo Palmer.

"He was in a 0-75. He's not been down in that level before so he found it a bit easier," said Fell.

After three seconds earlier on the card, Irish trainer John McConnell finally went one better with 6/4 favourite Nothing To Lose in the totepool Betting On All UK Racing Handicap.

Paul Hanagan brought the three-year-old with a wet sail on the outside and got home by a length and three-quarters from 66-1 outsider Inglorious.

The John Gosden-trained Pouvoir Magique landed the odds in workmanlike fashion in the Bet toteplacepot At betfred.com Longines Irish Champions EBF Maiden Stakes.

Itsalonglongroad led to over furlong out before James Doyle got the 1/12 shot to moving and they went on score by a length and a half. The first two were 21 lengths clear of the remainder.

Tim Easterby's Regal Mirage (4/1 favourite) wore down long-time leader Blankiedoodie close home to get the verdict by a neck in division one of the Bet totequadpot At betfred.com Handicap under David Allan, while Paul Mulrennan brought Take A Turn (11/2) from last to first to open his account in division two for David Lanigan.
