Kameko and Benbatl entered in Group Two Joel Stakes at Newmarket

Kameko and Benbatl are both in the Group Two Shadwell Joel Stakes at the six-day entry stage while there are just seven possible runners in the Rockfel.

The races, both on Newmarket's card next Friday, September 25, form part of the Cambridgeshire meeting and the QIPCO 2000 Guineas winner could well return to the scene of his greatest triumph.

Beaten in the Derby, the Sussex Stakes and the Juddmonte International since his Classic triumph, Kameko could drop in grade on the Rowley Mile as he bids to get back on the winning trail.

Benbatl hasn't been seen since he was third in the Saudi Cup in January, Saeed bin Suroor opting not to run him on testing ground at Goodwood in the Celebration Mile.

This time last year he was a five-length winner of this race, though, and he could well return to action while bidding to retain his crown.

"He'll go for the Joel, he's working well and he's in good form - we've been waiting for a while to run him," said Bin Suroor.

"We wanted to go to Goodwood and then there was a race at Haydock, but the ground was heavy. Instead we'll go to Newmarket for the race he won last year - he won it well.

"We're looking forward to it and looking to see a good performance from him. The timing is also right for Champions Day, but he will only go there if the ground is suitable.

"We took him last year when it was soft and he didn't like it. He's got the option over a mile (QEII) and 10 furlongs (Champion Stakes). We'll wait and see, we just need to get him started."

Those two headline the entries but there are plenty of good horses in opposition including Sir Michael Stoute's Regal Reality, William Knight's Sir Busker, Mark Johnston's Dark Vision and David Simcock's Bless Him.

Aidan O'Brien could bring a quartet over in Lancaster House, Royal Dornoch, Vatican City and So Wonderful, while John Gosden has Global Giant in the frame.

Top Rank could bid to continue his impressive improvement for James Tate and Duke Of Hazzard is another contender for Paul and Oliver Cole.

The entries are completed by Urban Icon, Zabeel Prince, Zakouski, Felician De Vega, Maamora and Tilsit.

Happy Romance heads Rockfel seven

Richard Hannon's Dick Poole Stakes winner Happy Romance could face a maximum of six rivals in the Group Two Shadwell Rockfel Stakes on the same card.

The impressive Salisbury winner might well have the option of the Cheveley Park Stakes the following day, as well, but she's in the Rockfel along with Charlie Hills' Prado.

Aidan O'Brien has Monday as a possible, with Roger Varian set to be represented by Nazuna.

Alba Rose, Isabella Giles and Santosha complete the seven,
