Richard Johnson hopes to return on Thursday

Richard Johnson will sit out the action until Thursday after being unseated at Fontwell on Monday.

The champion jockey was unshipped at the start of the "Goodwin Racing Call 08000 421 321" Maiden Hurdle when his mount Umndeni, the odds-on favourite, was impeded by Bigdeal.

The stewards looked into the incident but found that it was accidental.

Johnson had hoped to be in action at Newcastle on Tuesday and Newbury on Wednesday, but will now miss both those meetings.

His agent Dave Roberts said: "Richard is very sore.

"He's taking today and Wednesday off, and will be back on Thursday."
