Thomas Hobson to bid for Royal Ascot double

Thomas Hobson will try to emulate stablemate Simenon by adding Saturday's Queen Alexandra Stakes to his Ascot Stakes victory earlier in the week at the Royal meeting.

Fellow Willie Mullins inmate Simenon claimed both races in 2012 and Thomas Hobson will be aiming to repeat the feat following his effortless success over two and a half miles on Tuesday.

He will tackle an extra furlong and a half on Saturday, with Aidan O'Brien's US Army Ranger another fascinating contender in the conditions race.

Second in last year's Derby, he will be taking a massive hike in trip having run over no further than an extended mile and five furlongs to date.

Ryan Moore rode Thomas Hobson to victory on Tuesday, but as he is required to partner US Army Ranger for the Coolmore team, Martin Harley will ride Mullins' charge on Saturday.
