Darren Bunyan pleased with Hit The Bid ahead of the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye

Darren Bunyan reports Hit The Bid to be in tip-top shape ahead of the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye at ParisLongchamp on Sunday.

Granted fast ground and a bit of luck, the County Kildare trainer is expecting a big run from his four-year-old sprinter in the five-furlong dash.

Bunyan feels Hit The Bid has not had his optimum conditions this season, and was delighted with his run in the Flying Five at the Curragh, when the ground did not suit, on his latest start.

He then decided to skip his intended last outing in the Group Three World Trophy at Newbury, as the going was not right.

"He's leaving early Thursday morning to go to France. He's in the form of his life," said Bunyan.

"The forecast is very good for the rest of the week. They're putting five millimetres of water on the track (on Tuesday) to keep the sting out of the ground.

"You don't know about the ground until you're there, but the horse has never been better and is really peaking at the minute.

"If we get the draw, he'll be very competitive."
