Headway will attempt to get his career back on track when dropped in trip in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot next week.
The William Haggas-trained colt failed to last out the mile in the 2000 Guineas, when 12th of 14 behind Saxon Warrior.
He had looked to have a big future when showing a devastating turn of foot to win over seven furlongs at Lingfield on his seasonal debut in March.
Headway returns to that distance for the Group Three contest on Wednesday week.
"He's on course to run in the Jersey for the Royal Ascot Racing Club," said the owners' racing manager, Harry Herbert. "He's very well. He worked (on Tuesday morning) and William was pleased with him. The Royal Ascot Racing Club also have Projection, who will head for the Diamond Jubilee."
Herbert also looks after the interests of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, who will have runners at the Royal meeting.
"For Highclere we have Snazzy in the Queen Mary, Archetype in either the Wolferton or the Hunt Cup and Occupy in the King George V Handicap," he said. "We're set for an exciting few days. We've got some lovely horses. Fingers crossed we hit the board."
