2000 Guineas contenders Phoenix Of Spain and Advertise to gallop before racing at Newmarket

Racegoers attending Tuesday's first day of the three-day bet365 Craven Meeting at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile will be able to enjoy the added attraction of watching public workouts by Phoenix Of Spain and Advertise - two leading fancies for the Group One QIPCO 2000 Guineas.

Phoenix of Spain will be first to strut his stuff, galloping over seven furlongs in the company of a lead horse at 11.55am.

A Group Three-winning son of Lope de Vega trained by Charlie Hills, Phoenix Of Spain has not been seen on a racecourse since he was beaten a head by Magna Grecia in the Vertem Futurity at Doncaster last October.

At 12.15pm it will be the turn of Advertise, winner of the Group One Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh in August, then runner-up to the unbeaten Champion Two-Year-Old and QIPCO 2000 Guineas ante post favourite, Too Darn Hot, in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes on the Rowley Mile two months later.

A son of Showcasing trained by Martyn Meade, Advertise will work over six furlongs in the company of a lead horse.

Further good news for racegoers is that Tuesday's card has been extended to eight races by the division of the bet365 European Breeders’ Fund Fillies’ Maiden Stakes.

The first division will get proceedings under way at 1.15pm and the action will run right through until 5.20pm, when the bet365 Handicap will come under starter’s orders.

The running order at this year’s bet365 Craven Meeting has been altered due to ITV Racing’s coverage on Good Friday.

ITV4 will carry four races from Tuesday and Wednesday and as a result, the bet365 Craven Stakes will take place on Wednesday April 17. Please visit www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk for full details of each day’s running order.
