Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival: Danny Tudhope treble at Ripon

Danny Tudhope continued his quest for winners as the Sky Bet Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival got under way at Ripon on Saturday.

Story of the Day

Danny Tudhope’s title charge.

It’s early to be talking about it, yes, but Tudhope continues to impress in the saddle and he stretched his lead at the top of the flat jockeys’ championship standings after a Ripon treble on Saturday.

He won the opening seller on Isobar Wind, setting an early tone by pretty much making all up the stands’ rail, while he doubled his tally for the afternoon on Battle Of Wills for James Tate, the winner hurdling what looked like a piece of litter in the closing stages.

That was about as dramatic as the race got, a comfortable success all-in-all for the improving three-year-old.

In the final race of the day he made it a treble aboard Roger Fell's Montalvan.

It could’ve been even better for Tudhope, though.

In the feature Ripon Bell-Ringer Handicap he looked to have a double handful on David O’Meara’s Fayez, but the strong-travelling son of Zoffany had nowhere to go and had to settle for third in the end.

The treble could so easily have been a four-timer, but Tudhope’s mission for winners rolls on and he’s sure to be seen to good effect again at the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival in the coming week.

Ripon eyecatcher – Amadeus Grey 2.55 Ripon

Amadeus Grey ran well for a long way in the Sky Bet Go-Racing-In-Yorkshre Summer Festival Handicap and only faded inside the final furlong after racing prominently throughout. He’ll find easier opportunities than this and it looks like a drop back in trip would be in his favour as well.

Performance of the Day – Cockalorum 2.55 Ripon

Roger Fell is a dab hand at improving horses from other yards and he’s doing it again with Cockalorum who ran on for a really impressive victory in the aforementioned Sky Bet Go-Racing-In-Yorkshre Summer Festival Handicap. Formerly with Mick Halford, Cockalorum has run with credit in every start for Fell and this first victory for his new yard had been coming. You sense it won’t be the last.

Tipping Challenge

Team Sporting Life lead the way after Dave Ord’s nap Battle Of Wills was the only charity winner of the day.
