Warren Greatrex maps out Aintree plans

Warren Greatrex is thinking of running two of his novice hurdlers, Keeper Hill and La Bague Au Roi, at Aintree's Grand National meeting next month after neither had any luck at the Cheltenham Festival.

Keeper Hill, who was seventh behind Willoughby Court in the Neptune after his chance was ruined by a mistake at the sixth flight, might go for the Grade One Sefton Novices' Hurdle over three miles.

"I thought his Cheltenham run was OK. He made a mistake at the wrong time but stayed on really well," Greatrex told At The Races.

"He did it under tender handling as Gavin (Sheehan) never got stuck into him. It sounds really funny talking about a championship race, but he'll probably come on for that because he hasn't had a race as he was looked after following his mistake.

"I like him and I think three miles round Aintree will be good."

La Bague Au Roi is in line for the Mersey Novices' Hurdle over two and a half miles after she ran her race too early and ended up seventh to Let's Dance in the Grade Two Trull House Stud Mares' Novices' Hurdle.

"I might pit her against the boys in the two-mile-four novice," said Greatrex.

"Probably the way the race ran, I think we got into a battle early doors with a Willie Mullins' horse (Airlie Beach) and it set it up for his other ones.

"She went too hard early and didn't really get home. She's come on for that."
