Timeform's US Racing expert Jake Price is back with his tip for tonight's action Stateside.
CAMEO PERFORMANCE can make a winning US debut in the maiden special weight on turf over one mile and one-sixteenth that goes as race three at Keeneland.
The US-bred was previously conditioned by Jessica Harrington and ran once in Ireland in a maiden on the all-weather at Dundalk last November. There he came in for late money and ended up running a neck second to Aidan O’Brian’s Greenfinch with almost five lengths back to the third, all despite being a step slowly away at the start.
Cameo Performance has since joined the Brendan Walsh barn and he’s built up a fine reputation with European shippers. He also has a fine pedigree being by multi-Grade 1 turf winner Oscar Performance out of a Grade 3 placed mare.
The selection is one of a few of these that fetched a six-figure sum at the sales, so there are obvious expectations. With a better start from gate one this time, Tyler Gaffalione can help him save ground on the rail on the path to success.
