Simple Verse on course for Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

Ralph Beckett has confirmed 2015 St Leger winner Simple Verse remains on track to make her next start in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade, who is a general 12/1 shot for the Group One contest on June 22, made an encouraging return to action when finishing second behind Dartmouth in the Yorkshire Cup earlier this month.

Beckett said: "Simple Verse is good and she will head to Ascot for the Gold Cup. I was delighted with with her run at York.

"I thought it was fantastic effort over a mile and three-quarters, which is a bit on the sharp side for her these days.

"It was not that Oisin Murphy didn't give her a lovely ride, it was simply Ryan Moore at his best on Dartmouth."
