Timeform's US Racing expert Jake Price is back with his tip for tonight's action Stateside.
Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott is quite possibly best connected with US superstar Cigar but, more recently, has conditioned the winner of the last two runnings of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint with the Juddmonte-owned Elite Power. The Mott/Juddmonte axis is represented today by GREEK ORDER who’s making his US debut at Keeneland.
He’d been due to race a few weeks earlier at the Kentucky venue, however, the weather played its part with the contest taken off the grass and switched to the main track. Hopefully matters won’t be too bad today and this one-mile allowance looks a fine spot for a winning start in North America.
The name Greek Order may sound familiar to British readers. The son of Kingman, and full-brother to Sangarius, was the 3-year-old sent off a short-priced favourite in the thirty-four runner Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket last year. He put up a fine performance beaten just a half-length by Astro King.
He won his two runs prior to that outing and in fact made the first three on all seven starts for previous trainers Harry and Roger Charlton. He very much appeals as the sort to do better again at the age of 4.
Whilst he was last seen back in November finishing third in a listed race at Newmarket in deep ground, Mott has good stats with those off long breaks and he’s also been a regular on the worktab since the end of February.
