Tom George retains faith in The Big Bite

Tom George is happy to put a line through The Big Bite's disappointing Christmas effort at Kempton.

Winner of his first two starts over timber, he finished seven lengths behind Nicky Henderson's Mister Fisher when conceding 8lb.

"The only reason we ran him at Kempton was we were looking for slightly better ground and the other option was the Tolworth, where the ground wouldn't have suited him either," said George.

"We've wanted to give him a break and that is what he is having at the moment, so the timing was right but it just didn't fall his way I'd say he will be heading to Cheltenham in the spring, but for what I don't know yet. I think you could put a line through that run at Kempton and if he were to run against them again, there is no reason he couldn't beat them."

Another smart novice in the yard is Seddon, third behind leading Supreme Novices' Hurdle candidates Elixir De Nutz and Angels Breath on his last two outings.

George said: "It has been frustrating with him as he has only jumped eight hurdles in two races. His form is good, but it is not a true reflection of him.

"He will get further, there is no question about that. I would probably be leaning towards running him over further next time as I don't think he is sharp enough for two miles. At the end of the day, he will probably be a stayer. He is not far off ready to go, but he has got to run again somewhere before Cheltenham."
