Free betting tips: Friday's best bets & popular punts

David John is going low on cards in tonight's Premier League game as our team round-up their best bets for Friday's sport.

Popular punts

HORSE RACING: General Ginger 2.50 Wincanton 100/30 from 8/1

Harry Fry and Noel Fehily combined for a well-backed winner at Uttoxeter yesterday and there's been a big move for their runner in the Bet At racinguk.com Handicap Hurdle. Down to a generous mark, this horse has been absent for over 500 days but someone clearly thinks that will be no problem at all and he's being back at the exclusion of others.

FOOTBALL: West Ham to beat Brighton at 5/6

The weekend's Premier League action begins in London tonight and punters are siding with the hosts. West Ham are into 5/6 and hardening all the time to beat Brighton, who've scored just once away from home all season. With that in mind, perhaps, West Ham to win and under 2.5 goals in the match is a strong 5/2 shot.

Best bets

HORSE RACING: Essential 3.45 Redcar

"The son of Pivotal shaped well on his second start at Kempton in March and looked a bit ring rusty on his first start since when second at Redcar last month. Still, he should come on for that run and an opening mark of 67 looks fair on his Kempton effort." (Ben Linfoot)

HORSE RACING: Honkytonktennessee 2.05 Fakenham

"On the balance of his form, a mark of 112 over hurdles looks very attractive and this is one of the weakest races he has contested in since joining the yard of Dan Skelton." (Murt Khan)

FOOTBALL: Under 35 total match booking points

"Under 2.5 in the match at a best quote of 5/6 looks a rock-solid piece of business but I just prefer to go down the booking points route in this one and get short of 35 in the fixture at odds-against. The visitors are in tie for 15th in the top flight’s 'naughty boy' disciplinary table and although West Ham lead the way, you have to hold some semblance of optimism they will be on best behaviour, particularly with Carroll being called out by senior team-mates like Pablo Zabaleta." (David John)

GREYHOUNDS: Oakfield Caesar (T6) 8.53 Romford

"Oakfield Caesar (T6) has done this column a couple of favours in recent months and John Mullins’ three-year-old is fancied to land the Friday Night 500 final at 8.53. He already has the beating of Bubbly Torpedo and Bang On Giles based on their outing in the heats seven days ago, and there appears to be no reason for the form to be reversed." (Richard Wilson)
